BIG NEWS: Itâs no secret that our first rule from Day One has always been: Be Kind. We opened 6 months prior to the pandemic and while many people thought that was catastrophic, it actually turned out to be a blessing. We used that time to donate thousands of meals to those in need and also refine our approach to cooking with whole natural ingredients. We realized that helping others and mentoring young people in the field of hospitality was also central to our mission and existence. In 2022 we founded a non profit organization to continue this work quietly and behind the scenes. Weâve continued donating meals and services while promoting and sponsoring young people in our community. At the same time, weâve also been trying to keep up with incredibly high demand for our food at Pren Kitchen. Today weâre excited to announce the launch of our new web site at prenfoundation.org. We believe that now (more than ever) is the time to expand our reach and deliver more help to the communities we serve. Please take a moment to visit our web site (link in bio) and learn about what weâre doing. And if you can help support, that would be great too. We are so grateful for the great staff and patrons that we have, so please help us to continue to pay it forward. #kindnessmatters #prenkitchen #prenfoundation
Weâve been busy preparing for Motherâs Day and are excited to share some fresh new dishes with all of you.
If you plan to join us tomorrow, please understand that it is a very busy day and we have a very small dining room. We will do our best to accommodate all requests but please be considerate of our staff and our other guests.
And to all the MOMs out there, we want to thank you for everything you do. We are so appreciative of you!
Hope to see you soon - xo PREN #mothersday #chesternj #pren
When PREN KITCHEN opened in 2019 we were excited to share our love of home cooked comfort food with the world- the dishes we grew up eating. We made a decision early on to invest in people; both the people in our kitchen and experience for our guests.
We gave our team the time to prepare almost everything we served from scratch; from stocks to sauces to dressings and everything in between. We made our own jellies, breads, doughs, desserts, and selected vendors who were as close to the source as we could get.
Despite our best efforts, the perennial best sellers are always burgers and chicken fingers. Getting people to try something new is not always easy. Too often our palettes are used to the kinds of prepared foods that weâve come to see over and over again.
Families choose âsafeâ over ânewâ most of the time as tastes narrow and the illusion of choice starts to disappear. *sigh*
Over the years weâve tried to bring some new and different things to our guests and we often donât succeed. Itâs always disappointing for our team when we put our hearts into something we want to share and it goes nowhere.
As we enter the summer, weâre preparing our âGREATEST HITSâ menu of many familiar favorites. We hope that youâll come back and try something old that may be new to you.
Hope to see you soon - your friends at PREN #flops #nevergiveup #broadenyourhorizons
We still have a few slices of the chocolate decadence (run if you want some) but weâll be switching over to Mayâs cake of the month which is a sâmores cake with marshmallow buttercream and gluten free graham crackers. As always, our cakes are #glutenfree. If you think gluten free things taste bad, donât order this at all. #justsayin #inclusivecake
Diary of a Cinnamon Girl. Make sure you snatch up our homemade cinnamon rolls while theyâre still on the weekend menu! Our Summer Menu will drop in June and sadly, these will not be on it.. Donât say we didnât tell youâŚ. #cinnamonrolls #freshbaked #weekends
At PREN our burgers have always been best sellers. We like to think itâs because we start with premium meats and hand mix all of our blends with fresh herbs, spices, vegetables and seasonings. Soooooo to celebrate the return of warm weather, weâre kicking off the new month on Saturday May 2nd with a month of SPECIALTY BURGERS. We call it BURGER DE MAYO. Maybe one of your favorites is here and maybe some new one will be your favorite. Either way, make sure you visit us next month to try all of these varieties before the plans go back in the vault. #pren #burgers #imitatedbutneverduplicated

I finally got to try @prenkitchen in Chester, New Jersey and I'm so glad I did! Their Wagyu Smash Burger and Buffalo Chicken Egg Roll are not to be missed. Pren Kitchen serves up scratch-made American food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Wagyu Smash Burger had grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and smash sauce on a brioche roll, cooked to perfection. The Buffalo Chicken Egg Roll was crispy on the outside and packed with chicken, cheddar cheese, and chives in a house-made buffalo sauce. If you're looking for a great comfort meal, head to @prenkitchen in Chester, NJ! #chesternj #morriscountynj #wagyu #smashburger #explorenj
People ask us all the time- âWhat do you recommend?â or âWhatâs good here?â
Of course we think EVERYTHING is good here but our go to reply is often âWhat do YOU like?â
Taste is subjective but time and again, our guests tell us that there are in fact, favorites.
Some say that we have the Best Burger in Chester or that our French Onion Soup is World Class and we do appreciate that. But when it comes down to it, weâre just trying to serve the best food that we can and make it how we would cook for you in our own homes.
For the record, the French Onion soup just barely missed this list. Which one of these is your favorite?

Weâve been back now for 8 months and weâre very lucky to have a strong base of repeat guests that we LOVE. Many of them keep asking us the same question: HOWâS IT GOING?
Well, the short answer is that ITâS TOUGH. Between the need to constantly be creating âviralâ content, the presence of chain restaurants, delivery apps, GLP-1, food costs, equipment maintenance, suppliers going out of business, bad weather and the challenges of just running a business, you can imagine how difficult it might seem right now.
We like to believe that there is always a place for things of quality and providing quality food and service is always our goal. But we also see whatâs happening in our own dining room and the changes in culture that we have to respond to. (Remember when we had the âno phones at the tableâ rule?)
The truth is that all independent restaurants find themselves in the midst of an existential crisis in a rapidly changing landscape. Corporate entities have the benefits of global infrastructure whereas small businesses rely on the local resources available.
We love Chipotle as much as you do, but they pay way less for their avocados than we do.
We know these are uncertain times for many, but we will continue to bring you the scratch made meals and desserts that we have become known for. Or we will until the Chick Fil-A opens. Then weâll see how it goes.
Hope to see you all soon! xo PREN #smallbusiness #independentrestaurant #local
We apologize if youâve recently tried to order our pulled pork nachos or Alabama pork sandwich and found them to be sold out. It takes us a full day to make the pork and we may have underestimated the demand. Thankfully itâs only on our dinner menu so your odds are better. Try some today. #lowandslow #pulledpork #pren
