Before anything new goes in, we make sure what’s underneath is solid.
Restumping is one of those steps you don’t see in the final result… but it’s what everything relies on.
At Dany’s family home, going through the process now - strengthening the foundation, re-levelling where needed, and making sure the structure is right before we build forward.
What Simon appreciated most was the collaboration - keeping the strong parts of the design, while refining where needed to make it work in the real world and within budget 🙌
At the design stage, one of the biggest questions is… draftsman or architect?
Both play an important role - it just depends on what you’re trying to achieve...
Dany’s keeping the original ceiling detail and carefully relocating it to sit centred in the new space ~ restoring the character while making the layout work ✨
The roofline told the story straight away.
One of the main reasons Dany chose this home for his family - a generous footprint that gives you real flexibility with how you design and extend.
When the bones are right, everything that follows becomes easier 🙌
One of the biggest advantages of bringing Mark in early with a pre-purchase inspection… is what you don’t have to replace.
Walking through the existing structure, we were able to properly assess the timber framing - something that can quietly blow out your budget if it’s compromised.
Dany had concerns there may’ve been water damage or rot in some of the members. If that was the case, it would mean ripping out and replacing a lot more than planned… and timber isn’t cheap.
But this is where having the right people matters.
Mark got in, checked everything thoroughly, and confirmed the structure is solid. No hidden damage, no unnecessary replacements.
Which means we can keep what’s good, build on it properly, and save money where it actually makes sense.

Walking through Dany’s new home and it’s all potential!
Every space we’re standing in has already been thought through ~ how it will feel, how it will function, how it will come together.
We’re excited to show you this next part of the journey ⚒️
Before Simon even met us, his biggest concern was simple… cost.
He had a clear budget in mind and didn’t want to step into a build that kept creeping beyond it.
That’s where things can go wrong - when there’s no clarity from the start.
Once we began working together, everything was laid out properly. Transparent numbers, clear scope, no guesswork.
The worry didn’t disappear by chance… it disappeared through process, planning and honest conversations from day one.
Day 3 on site and things are starting to move 🙌
Part of Dany’s family home journey means doing everything properly from the very beginning. We had an independent arborist come through to assess the large tree on site. With approval given, it’s now been safely removed, clearing the way for what’s next.
With that behind us and everything settled, the team’s been able to get straight into it. The boys are inside prepping for a full site demo, and we’re only minutes away from securing the building permit 👷⚒️
