Finding my studio is not the easiest, a lot of people discover it by accident while having coffee at @NepaMomos or while visiting the marvellous @AndrewTheOsteopath , a haircut or simply relax in the beautiful garden as @GossamerCityProject_Official is full of wonderful other businesses as well.
It’s just off The Oval which is the last road on the left in Hackney Road before you turn into Mare Street an area steeped in rich history and we are often confused as a part of Containerville (although I believe we were the OG).
My studio is on the ground floor, tucked right at the back on the right side, a delightful stroll through greenery and a quiet refuge from the busyness of the main road.

Since settling into my studio at Gossamer Gardens, I’ve gained so many beautiful followers and so I thought that I would re-introduce myself, because it’s always nice to see the face behind the work.
It is always hard to describe me; I have lived a thousand lives with the ethos “Life is not a dress rehearsal”, my two passports beside me as my ride or die, my Autism strong with the Force and my ADHD making last minute changes to the plans which has resulted in an eclectic, but full life.
I’m not everyone’s cup of Earl Grey, which is important as the older I get, the more I realise it’s about the chosen family (both those who choose you and vise versa) and as I hurtle headfirst into midlife, the honour of finding my dream job, the privilege of having a studio and the shadow work to get to a place where I am surrounded by beautiful people is something that I am grateful for every day!

Casually hanging out with the other Charlotte at Gossamer Gardens who owns @Sticks.Not.Stones and we took a moment to be silly in the sun while admiring the latest plates to emerge.
There is something so delightful about the tiny striations caused by glaze fluxing in the kiln that I am almost disappointed with flat, single coloured glazes now.
I have started to consider each piece that I make as a tiny piece of artwork, the form just a canvas to paint in harmony with the kiln gods, holding my breath to see if they approve and if it can be exhibited in someones home.
I adore making the pieces, but (and I know that this is definitely controversial) glazing has to be my favourite part; the possibilities are endless with just a small change in chemicals, heat and time that I don’t think that I will ever tire of the wait to find what the alchemy of ceramics has blessed me with each time.

On the bank holiday Monday I was fortunate enough to attend a glorious afternoon curated by @Cath_erine_Li at Brompton Cemetery hosted by @FOBCOfficial experiencing a spectacular exhibition by @Gabriele.Risso whose pieces were lovingly recreated in chocolate by the insanely talented @Maisongb and available to sample.
If you know me, I have a versatile appetite, craving novelty and depth, flitting out to strange horizons and burrowing back into familiar ones when the mood strikes. Predictable only in my unpredictability and so gifted one of the pieces in chocolate meant a little fun in the studio.

An absolute delicious evening out with @maisongb and @mariifontanaa last night to celebrate Pisces season in style.
From drinking themed cocktails (the Scorpio Rising was my favourite) to eating expertly crafted jellies created for the occasion, to wearing fur and seeing my ceramics adored as gifts given to the hosts, my heart is full and my mind is inspired to get the new ideas down in clay.
Talking about floral jelly and conceptual design as a sensorial experience has to be my new favourite way to spend a Saturday night.

I loved being a nurse, the joy of helping people in their most vulnerable moments, the chaos of solving problems and managing stressful situations and an exhaustion that is full of satisfaction at the end of a long surgery, but I have to admit there was always yearning for something that bubbled in the background.
I got my full body tattoo on weekends, starting 20 years ago this month, turned up wrapped in plastic to work, went out late a did burlesque showing up on time to check the rota and wrote poems in secret at my desk after replacing bones with metal.
Secretly, I lived as a dichotomy, believing it was a hobby to create and a necessity to have a “sensible” job and now I know it’s a myth that I was told by others who were scared I’d burgeon into who I actually am.
This year, on the first of May (which is a Friday, a Full Moon and Beltane) I turn 50 and it’s time to start the new novel in my series called life. Watch out world, rebirth has been messy and painful, but now I’m ready to start walking the path set for me without apology.

Sundays may be a day of rest for some, but mine was a day of curiosity and learning (my favourite pastime) attending a workshop by @BlunikStudio and @KirstenTingle in Hackney Wick to create bio ceramics from various shells that would otherwise become landfill.
This year is all about new processes in my art practice, learning how to do things properly so I can break the rules and forming a network of people who are future proofing the art world (and the planet) in a sustainable and positive fashion.
Yesterday nourished my soul in ways I couldn’t describe in words, but gave me many new jumping points to bring the ideas that are accumulating in my brain into realities; this new plan of saying yes to new experiences seems to be my working on my journey of reinvention.
What a wonderful way to celebrate IWD26!

A fabulous day at the @PearlyMakersMarkeT held at The @Vagina_Museum yesterday meeting so many incredible creatives, including one of my absolute pottery heroes @Christine_Binnie (who I bought another badge from to add to my collection).
Thank you so much to @AmyRoseHolland for having me and making the day a really smooth market experience, everyone who bought something as well as those who stopped to chat, making it a thoroughly delightful day of women led businesses supporting each other in a gorgeous environment.
A donation of 5% of my sales made at the market will be sent directly to @Womens_Aid and an in person donation of another 5% was made at the museum to contribute to the fabulous work they do to educate the public, I highly recommend making a day of it if you’re in Hackney (and then pop into my studio to say hi).

A collective installation at Damsel, built from real breasts and chests, made with collective care for anyone with a breast to share or a chest they’d like to bare. It’s about being more than how we look right now, honouring yourself as you are, everyone who’s ever felt like you, and the beauty (and gift) of change.
This installation is an ongoing project, encompassing empowerment, a celebration of community energy and a day to socialise with some incredible people in a place that has come to feel like home for me and a day I will treasure forever.
There’s another session next week and you can catch me there for the early session helping out and drinking my new favourite beverage, the Damsel version of A London Fog (which was appropriate on the day this was filmed).

Glazing is absolutely my favourite part of making, the joy of creating with raw materials is made even more exciting when testing out a new glaze formula when you’re hoping the balance is right.
Looking for the perfect red and listening to the wind in a warm studio while the kiln cools was a pocket of slowness needed this week.
