Rarely is an individual receiving care for a single issue. More often that not, they have multiple, interconnected needs, which takes an interconnected organization to address.

PRC is most known for serving those affected by HIV and AIDS in San Francisco. But as our city and social safety net have evolved, we've become even more equipped to address inequality across the housing, healthcare, and workforce sectors. We know that BIPOC and LGBTQI+ people are disproportionately represented in homelessness statistics. We exist to change that reality.

Our work is about much more than providing services that scale. It's about empowering our community to create real systems change.

In San Francisco, a single setback—a layoff, a medical bill, or a missed paycheck—can lead to becoming unhoused.
And once someone loses housing, getting back is incredibly difficult.
But prevention works:
Between March 2025 and November 2025, 280 clients responded to PRC’s outreach:
• 100% of PRC Move-In Assistance clients remained housed
• 98% of Eviction Prevention clients remained housed
Timely support changes outcomes.

Last week, we had the opportunity to share an exciting milestone for The Unseen Class—a documentary centered on the health journeys of seven Black trans individuals—at a rough impact screening hosted by Fancy Films in Los Angeles.
This screening brought together a group of documentary filmmakers and industry professionals to view the latest cut of the film and offer feedback as we move into the final stages of production. It also marked the first time the film was experienced on the big screen with full theater sound—an incredibly powerful moment for our team.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, with thoughtful discussion around how the film balances grief, resilience, and joy, and how it can serve both as a reflection for the Black trans community and an educational tool for broader audiences.
We’re deeply grateful for the insights shared and for spaces like this that support impact-driven storytelling. We look forward to continuing this journey and sharing more soon.

Earlier this month, the @blackleadershipcouncil in partnership with Black Action Alliance, Fox News, CalVoices, Black Women Organized for Political Action and others, kicked off Black History Month by co-hosting the first televised bipartisan 2026 California gubernatorial candidate debate.
Held at the Ruth Williams Bayview Opera House in San Francisco, the debate created a critical platform to center Black and other marginalized communities, lived experience, and policy priorities that are often left out in statewide political discourse.
The debate featured gubernatorial candidates Xavier Becerra (D), Steve Hilton (R), Matt Mahan (D), Tom Steyer (D), Tony Thurmond (D), Antonio Villaraigosa (D), and Betty Yee (D)
The policy priorities elevated during the debate reflect the lived realities of PRC clients and the ongoing fight for housing stability, health equity, economic opportunity, and dignity for all.
The @blackleadershipcouncil will continue to create forums that make these issues visible and advocate for systems that are equitable, accessible, and responsive to the needs of those most impacted.
