I’ll be honest: I’ve been putting off the @pranavidastyle summer launch longer than I should.
Mainly because I keep telling myself it isn’t a “good time.” In a world that feels so heavy and uncertain, promoting pretty dresses and making silly reels can feel a bit absurd.
I love the revolution of slow fashion, but I’ve never loved the noise of advertising just to make a sale. I also kinda despise social media… not great when your whole business runs on it 🫠.
Sometimes I find myself asking… what’s the point?
But then I remember why I started: to create pieces that align with my values, bring people ease and joy, and to offer something meaningful in a sea of disposable.
So, despite the hesitation, the summer collection is coming. Because I still believe in the beauty of creating things that matter.

There’s a moment, every season, where I sit with a decision.
How much do we make?
In traditional fashion, the answer is simple: produce as much as possible, push it out into the world, and manufacture demand through relentless marketing and a seemingly never-ending cycle of discounts and promotions.
Brands intentionally overproduce to avoid running out of stock (because selling out is seen as “lost profit”).
Because of this, it’s estimated that as many as 40% of clothes made each year - 60 BILLION garments - are not even sold.
Where does it all go?
👉🏼It’s exported to secondhand markets (often overwhelming local systems and landfills)
👉🏼Or is destroyed (burned or shredded)
This is possible because garments are made very cheaply, so there’s less financial risk in overproducing.
But this comes at a very real cost to the environment and the workers exploited by the fast fashion industries.
That’s never felt right to me. So, at Prana Vida we try our best to do things differently.
Every piece we create uses thoughtfully sourced fabrics and is made here in Canada, which comes with a high cost.
It is not only careless for us to overproduce, it’s financially unsustainable.
That’s why we do pre-sales!
When you shop a pre-sale, you’re not just placing an order - you’re helping shape what gets made.
You’re allowing us to produce more intentionally, reduce waste, and stay aligned with the values this brand was built on.
