Anniversary: The Estates Theatre Opens - Since its opening on April 21, 1783, Prague’s Estates Theatre has stood as one of Europe’s great treasures. It is the only surviving theatre where Mozart performed, and the stage that witnessed the world premiere of Don Giovanni in 1787 under his baton.   Today, this extraordinary hall continues to inspire artists and audiences alike—including Prague Summer Nights, whose young musicians step into the same space that shaped musical history.   On this anniversary, we honor the Estates Theatre as a living monument to Mozart’s genius and a home for music’s future. #praguesummernights #praguesummernightsfestival #psn #psn2026

Congratulations to PSN alum Thomas (Tom) Chilluffo, who recently performed as Mime in Wagner’s Das Rheingold with the Berlin Philharmonic under Maestro Kirill Petrenko.   Taking part in this landmark Ring cycle project with such an extraordinary cast and one of the world’s greatest orchestras is a wonderful achievement, and we’re proud to see Tom’s artistry represented on this stage.   #praguesummernights #praguesummernightsfestival #psn2026 #psn26

Congratulations to PSN 2022 alumna Danielle Jagelski on being named one of only eight recipients of OPERA America’s 2026 Discovery Grants for Women Composers! Danielle, a conductor, composer, and creative producer develop her new opera Little Ones with librettist Rhiana Yazzie—continuing her powerful work in decolonization and storytelling through music.   We are proud to celebrate Danielle’s achievements and the inspiring path she has forged since her time at Prague Summer Nights.   #praguesummernights #praguesummernightsfestival

#Mozarteum45anos #opera #praguesummernights #vienna #cantolirico

Celebrating World Piano Day, March 28 - World Piano Day falls on the 88th day of the year, a tribute to the instrument’s 88 keys.   At PSN, the piano is indispensable. It supports one‑on‑one sessions, guides rehearsals for the operas, and anchors performances like Cabaret Night, where singers enjoy a night singing jazz, Broadway, and cabaret repertoire. The piano is the constant partner in preparation, shaping interpretation and ensemble balance.   #worldpianoday #psn2026 #praguesummernight #praguesummernightsfestival

Celebrate World Theatre Day: March 27   On March 22, the Philadelphia Orchestra performed Rachmaninoff and Schumann, conducted by Marin Alsop. The program opened with "Go Where the Wind Takes You" by Ukrainian composer Iryna Aleksiychuk—a piece commissioned by Classical Movements and first premiered by the PSN Orchestra in 2024 at Smetana Hall (conducted by Laura Jackson).   The concert became a reunion of PSN friends. On stage was Philadelphia Orchestra concertmaster David Kim alongside Amy Oshiro (violin), with Ricardo Morales (clarinet)—all past PSN faculty, soloists, and clinicians, with Amy and Ricardo returning regularly and again in 2026.  In the audience was Neeta Helms, President of Classical Movements and PSN, hearing a powerful piece of music commissioned through the company, played a second time - a most unusual occurrence.   Marin Alsop’s presence brought the circle even closer. She joined PSN in 2025 for our 10th Anniversary season, conducting Dvořák’s From the New World in Pilsen. That concert featured Amy as concertmistress and Ricardo as soloist in Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto (conducted by Michelle Di Russo, PSN conducting alumna and now faculty member).   World Theatre Day highlights the power of performance across all stages. For PSN, it is a reminder that what we do is part of a global network of artistry and friendship. This weekend’s concert showed how those connections endure: faculty, alumni, and composers together in Philadelphia, carrying forward music first heard at PSN. #psn #praguesummernights #worldtheatreday #praguesummernightsfestival

Všechno nejlepší k narozeninám, Oskare Nedbale! Composer Birthday Anniversary: Oskar Nedbal, born March 26, 1874 in Tábor, was a Czech composer, conductor, and violist. He co‑founded the Bohemian String Quartet, led the Czech Philharmonic as principal conductor, and composed works that remain central to Czech musical life. His operetta Polská krev and ballet Pohádka o Honzovi are among his most enduring contributions.   For the first two weeks of PSN, Tábor is our home. The Oskar Nedbal Theatre hosts both the Opera Scenes Concert and Orchestra Concert I, giving our students the chance to perform in the very hall that carries his name.   PSN players rehearse, receive coaching, and perform here—continuing the Czech tradition that Nedbal helped define.   #psn #psn2026 #praguesummernights #praguesummernightsfestival

International String Trio Day – On 19 March, 1816, Schubert’s String Trio in B-flat, D.471 was premiered. Though only a single movement, it is the reason this date is marked for String trios. We dedicate this post to the all the PSN strings faculty and players! PSN offers a robust and immersive program for Orchestra: in addition to performing three symphonic concerts with the PSN orchestra, PSN strings players will have the opportunity to join a chamber ensemble and refine their skill playing within small groups. All the chamber ensembles will have the opportunity to perform at the Chamber Music Showcase on June 30 at Suk Hall in the Rudolfinum, home to the Czech Philharmonic.   #psn #psn2026 # #praguesummernights #praguesummernightsfestival
