Not every typeface begins with certainty.
Sometimes it begins with curiosity, questions, failed attempts, painted signs on city streets, and the slow discovery that rhythm and systems matter just as much as expression.
The next edition of Type of Humans features Anusha Malusare and her journey through Devanagari Two — from intuition to structure, from experimentation to deeper understanding.

Not every typeface starts from scratch.
Sometimes, the real work begins when you go back — revisiting decisions, questioning what’s already there, and learning to see the system with fresh eyes.
In the latest edition of Type of Humans, we feature Ale Grau, a type designer from Peru, whose Latin Two project is a story of iteration, refinement, and growth.

Extended deadline for the D&AD Awards ✨ @d_and_ad
I’m honored to be part of this year’s Typography jury, alongside an incredible group of designers and thinkers.
Looking forward to seeing the work that comes in — the ideas, the details, the care behind each project.
If you’ve been thinking about submitting, this might be your moment.
“It wasn’t just a course; it became a meaningful chapter in my type design journey.”

Barcelona, last year — Ramón with Nicole and Valerio.
Type design is about people as much as it is about letters.
Ramón’s story is now featured in the latest edition of Type of Humans.
A project about structure, restraint, and the challenge of designing a neutral grotesk.

Something we often see in Latin Two:
A typeface that started as a single style begins to reveal its internal logic when it is expanded into a family.
Through compatible masters, interpolation and weekly critiques, students gradually develop a clearer system for their typeface.
The goal is not only to expand a project, but to develop the criteria needed to continue designing type families afterwards.
Applications close this Sunday.

In Latin Two, designers expand their typefaces while refining how they see structure, rhythm, and systems.
It’s designed for those who have already started a typeface and want to develop it into a multi-weight family through guided refinement and weekly expert feedback.
Because the course is built around close feedback and individual projects, spots are limited.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the course fills.

One of the most rewarding parts of Latin Two is seeing how students begin to notice the subtle decisions that shape a type family.
As Ivan Ruiz-Knott shares:
“Latin Two was such a thorough, valuable, and fun course… it helped me learn to see and understand the nuances of type so much better.”
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the course is full.
