Krítamo is a perennial plant typical of the coastal areas of Salento and the Mediterranean basin. Able to blend in among rocks and shrubs, it stands out for its extraordinary resilience: it survives extreme conditions such as high salinity, strong winds, and drought.
KRÍTAMO is a video screening, experimental cinema, and moving-image project promoted by giardino project and curated by Vincenzo Estremo. The program is carried out in collaboration with the association 34° Fuso, SEI – Sud Est Indipendente, the Polo Biblio Museale of Lecce, and the Associazione Ecomuseo della Pietra Leccese, and is realized with the support of the Apulia Film Commission.
For the first time in Puglia, the project brings together a selection of films from the most important European collections, archives, and contemporary art foundations. From July 20 to 22, 2025, across the garden courtyard of Palazzo De Donno in Cursi, the Castle of Corigliano d’Otranto, and the CineLab “Giuseppe Bertolucci” in Lecce, KRÍTAMO presents a cycle of three daily screenings focused on the theme of the climate emergency, exploring the relationship with the aquatic environment and its implications within an anthropocentric perspective. A visual and conceptual investigation that questions the centrality of humankind in the relationship with nature, offering the public an opportunity for profound reflection on one of the most urgent challenges of our time.
