Sot, mbështetës, aktivistë dhe banorë të zonës, u mblodhën në Peizazhin e Mbrojtur të Vjosë–Nartës për të kërkuar ndalimin urgjent të punimeve që po shkatërrojnë një nga zonat më të rëndësishme natyrore të vendit. Gjatë protestës, dëshmuam nga afër një pjesë të masakrës të shkaktuar brenda në kantier: rrugë të reja të hapura në zemër të zonës së mbrojtur, pemë të shkulura, sipërfaqe të mbuluara me beton dhe cakull, si dhe transformimin e peizazhit natyror nga makineritë e rënda. Banorët dhe qytetarët ngritën zërin për mbrojtjen e Vjosë–Nartës, duke kërkuar ndalimin e menjëhershëm të çdo aktiviteti që cenon habitatet dhe biodiversitetin e zonës. Një falenderim për të gjithë mbështetësit, aktivistët, organizatat dhe qytetarët që iu bashkuan kësaj thirrjeje për mbrojtjen e natyrës. - Today, supporters, activists, and local residents gathered in the Protected Landscape of Vjosa–Narta to demand the immediate suspension of the construction destroying one of the country’s most important natural areas. During the protest, we witnessed firsthand part of the devastation caused inside the construction site: new roads carved through the heart of the protected area, uprooted trees, surfaces covered with concrete and gravel, and the transformation of the natural landscape by heavy machinery. Residents and citizens raised their voices for the protection of Vjosa–Narta, calling for the immediate halt of all activities threatening the area’s habitats and biodiversity. Përfaqësues të Delegacionit të Bashkimit Europian dhe disa vendeve anëtare të BE-së, së bashku me PPNEA, vizituan sot Peizazhin e Mbrojtur Vjosë-Nartë me qëllim njohjen nga afër të situatës aktuale në terren. Gjatë vizitës, pjesëmarrësit patën mundësinë të konstatojnë drejtpërdrejt ndërhyrjet dhe zhvillimet që po prekin këtë ekosistem të ndjeshëm, si edhe ndikimet që ato po sjellin mbi habitatet natyrore, biodiversitetin dhe vlerat ekologjike të zonës së mbrojtur. Vizita shërbeu për të vlerësuar nga afër gjendjen e Peizazhit të Mbrojtur të Vjosë-Nartës dhe për të evidentuar rëndësinë e ruajtjes së integritetit ekologjik të një prej zonave më të rëndësishme natyrore bregdetare në Shqipëri. - Representatives of the European Union Delegation and some of the EU Member States, together with PPNEA, visited the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape today to gain first-hand insight into the current situation on the ground. During the visit, participants were able to directly observe the ongoing interventions and developments affecting this sensitive ecosystem, as well as their impacts on the area’s natural habitats, biodiversity, and ecological values. E vërteta e Vjosë–Nartës Ndërkohë që institucionet vazhdojnë me deklarata kontradiktore dhe përpjekje për të minimizuar situatën, në terren Vjosë–Narta po zhduket para syve tanë. Right now, in the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape in Albania, bulldozers are clearing coastal forests and flattening dunes. This sanctuary is home to over 200 bird species, as well as the critically endangered Mediterranean monk seal and loggerhead sea turtle. Instead of taking immediate action to halt the works, there is a tendency to justify these interventions. 😡 We call on the Minister of the Environment to intervene without delay to stop any work and guarantee the real protection of the Vjosa Delta. The Protected Areas Agency and the State Police must also exercise their legal duties and immediately stop any unlawful activities within the Protected Area. We won’t stand by while a global treasure is sacrificed for reckless tourism. E vërteta është se në brendësi të Zonës së Mbrojtur janë futur kamiona dhe ekskavatorë, të cilët po shkatërrojnë zonën e mbrojtur duke gërryer kodrat për të hapur rrugë, duke sheshuar dunat dhe duke tjetërsuar sipërfaqen brenda pyllit të pishave me shtrimin e inerteve, madje edhe mbi sipërfaqe ujore. Në vend që të merren masa të menjëhershme për verifikimin e situatës dhe ndalimin e punimeve, po vërehet një tendencë për t’i justifikuar këto ndërhyrje, ndërkohë që aktiviteti në zonë po intensifikohet. Edhe sot, kamiona dhe betoniere të tjera po futen në zemër të zonës së mbrojtur. I bëjmë thirrje Ministrit të Mjedisit, të përdori këtë moment historik dhe të tregojë fytyrën europiane të vendit duke ndërhyrë pa vonesë për të ndaluar çdo punim dhe për të garantuar mbrojtjen reale të Pishë Poro-Nartës. 🚨 Right now, bulldozers are illegally tearing through one of Albania's most precious wild places. Pishë Poro–Nartë is an ancient coastal pine forest on the Adriatic. Home to Flamingos, Dalmatian Pelicans, and a vital stopover for millions of migratory birds travelling between Europe and Africa. Without an approved project, no public consultation, no environmental impact assessment, and no sign of a construction permit, heavy machinery moved into the protected area at the end of April. Trees are being felled. Sand dunes shaped over centuries are being levelled. And nobody knows who authorised it. That, in itself, is part of the scandal. A major development project linked to Jared Kushner has also been planned for this area, though whether the current works are connected remains unclear. Together with our Partner @ppnea we travelled to Tirana this week and delivered a strong message to Albanian authorities: the bulldozers must stop NOW. Albania is on the path to EU membership. Këto makineri nuk po e pasurojnë zonën, por po e grabisin dhe shkatërrojnë atë. E gjithë kjo ndërhyrje po bëhet duke na anashkaluar ne, publikun, dhe duke shpërfillur çdo ligj apo institucion. PPNEA, së bashku me BirdLife Europe dhe 19 partnerë të tjerë në Evrope të BirdLife, dëshmuan dhunimin që po i bëhet Zonës së Mbrojtur dhe protestuan me një kërkesë të qartë: HIQNI DUART NGA VJOSA-NARTA! - HANDS OFF VJOSA-NARTA Dozens of trucks and excavators have stormed one of Albania’s richest natural areas, replacing the wildlife of the Pishë Poro - Narta Protected Landscape with heavy machinery. These machines are not enriching the area, they are looting and destroying it. All of this intervention is happening while bypassing the public and disregarding every law and institution. 🦩 Albania’s wild coast is under threat. At the heart of Vjosë-Nartë, one of the Mediterranean’s last untouched coastal ecosystems, illegal bulldozers are tearing through protected land, to build an airport and a massive luxury tourism complex, promoted by foreign investors like Jared Kushner. Ancient pine forests are being cut down, sand dunes destroyed, and vital bird habitats erased. No environmental assessments, no public consultation, no transparent permitting, and no official explanation from any authority about what is being built, or by whom. This area is home to 200+ bird species, endangered wildlife, and sits on the Adriatic Flyway, a crucial migration route between Europe and Africa. As part of the EU accession process, Albania has committed to protect the site and repeal its current legislation on Protected Areas, which directly contradicts EU nature protection standards. But while legal reform is debated, works are racing ahead on the ground, transforming the current legal loopholes into what looks like a gold rush for rich foreign investors. With BirdLife Europe and PPNEA, we are demanding an immediate stop to the works and full transparency from authorities before this irreplaceable ecosystem is lost forever. This is of outmost importance for Albanian people, for the protection of their natural heritage and for biodiversity globally.
