Born and bred in The Bronx, Flordalis, also known as “Dalis”, uses her lens to document her community intimately through portraiture, immortalizing moments that transcend time. Introduced to photography through her mother’s love of documenting family moments, Dalis’ passion for her borough has led her to use the camera as a conduit of storytelling, challenging preconceived and stereotypical notions of the Bronx and its residents.

The greatest images I believe a photographer can create are of your loved ones. But if you’re fortunate like I am, you can create new ones with your elders who sometimes yearn to feel like their older selves again, or rather helping to remind them each wrinkle is a chapter of wisdom and perseverance—a testament to a remarkable journey.
I’m so thankful for 86 years of love, memories, and your holiday spirit. This could well be your last Thanksgiving to be the lead chef in the kitchen, but with you still around, that’s enough to keep me full. It’s always gonna be #ForeverUs ❤️ And I hope all of you who’ve read this far are thankful for the elders who remain in your life till this day. With luck and good health, they’ll still be around for you to show how much you appreciate them too.
