Stella is a nine-week-old Chihuahua puppy weighing just over 500 grams who survived a traumatic start to life in a hoarding situation, where three of her littermates were killed in a dog attack. Despite suffering injuries herself, Stella survived and has shown incredible resilience.
🩷 She has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition causing fluid buildup in her head and affecting her skull formation. Stella is under the care of leading veterinary neurologist Dr Georgina Child at SASH. Due to her tiny size and fragile condition, surgery and even an MRI are considered too risky, so she is being carefully managed conservatively.
🩷 Stella spends much of her time sleeping, but when awake she enjoys eating, sunshine, grass, and gentle play with toys. She is sweet-natured, uses pee pads reliably, and needs constant supervision or a safe pen for protection.
🩷 She requires a very specific home: calm, experienced owners familiar with tiny or medically fragile dogs, ideally with another gentle small dog. She cannot live with small children or large dogs due to her delicate condition.
