For most of human history, community was shaped by proximity. The people you lived near were the people you shared life with â whether you chose them or not.
Today, we can curate our relationships from anywhere in the world. That freedom has benefits.
But itâs also come with an unexpected cost: weâve slowly lost the practice of being together with people who are different from us.
Everyone wants a village, no-one wants to be a villager.
Most people I talk to want the same thing. They want people they can count on. They want their kids to grow up surrounded by familiar faces. They want friendships that feel steady, not fragile.
In other words: they want a village. But villages donât magically appear.
Theyâre built â slowly â by people willing to participate.

For most of my adult life, Iâve watched people say the same thing in different ways: âI wish we had more community.â
Theyâre not wrong. Weâre more connected than ever â texting constantly, scrolling endlessly, reacting in real time â and yet so many of us feel lonely, unrooted, and strangely unseen. That tension is the reason Potluck exists. Not because we need another way to communicate.
But because shared experience is more important than communication alone.

Chili Lime Chicken Wings. The perfect addition to your spread for the Big Game. But more than solely the Big Game this weekend, it can be used to plan birthday parties, bachelor parties and everything in between. Hear from our founder Justin as he shares how he uses Potluck to simplify his life and keep his social calendar organized. See below for the full chili lime wings recipe.
Chili Lime Chicken Wings - 3 dozen chicken wings
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 tablespoon Chile Lime Seasoning
- Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
- Lime wedges for serving
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Pat the wings dry and arrange them on the prepared sheet.
Drizzle the wings with olive oil, then season generously with Chile Lime Seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together directly on the sheet so the wings are evenly coated.
Bake for 45â50 minutes, flipping halfway through. If you want more flavor, add another sprinkle of seasoning during the flip.
When the wings are crispy and golden, remove from the oven. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the top and give them a final dusting of seasoning.
Serve immediately with extra lime wedges on the side.

đ If everyone brings chips again⌠we failed the game plan.
The week before the Big Game is not the time for vague texts like
âbring whatever.â
Thatâs how you end up with 6 bags of tortilla chips and no actual food.
A good watch party spread doesnât happen by accident â it happens when guests know whatâs needed and feel comfortable contributing.
Hereâs the move:
Make the food plan visible
Show whatâs covered
Let guests choose what works for them
No awkward asks. No guessing. No duplicate snacks.
Just a table that looks like you planned it (even if you didnât).

We believe that eating together is our way back to each other. Statistically, more Americans eat alone than ever before. 1 in 4 of us ate all our meals alone yesterday, up 53% since 2003. At Potluck, weâre here to make gathering easy but for us itâs so much more than a party planning app. Itâs building an in-person social media network. Letâs plan a little togetherness.
