How we talk to a toddler impacts whether they listen to us.

@healthiest_baby If your toddler isn’t listening, try whispering instead of yelling. Whispering requires more mental effort and forces toddlers to focus.
You’ll feel better because you didn’t yell, and kids cooperate now that you have their attention and connection.
Let’s say your toddler is screeching loudly and racing up and down the hallway. You’ve asked him to come to the table for dinner, three times now. You’re getting angry.
✔️Instead of yelling, try this— the whispering hack:
You squat down, make eye contact, and whisper, “Ok tiger, let’s go to the table. for dinner. I bet I can get there before you.”
✔️Why does this work so well? Because with connection comes co-operation. Whispering creates a bond and it’s calming. Your toddler feels in control instead of feeling controlled. And you bring fun and playfulness to the situation.
