@cartwheelcoffee never miss. This washed Rwanda [pr] ticks all my boxes — favourite filter coffee right now!
The more I use the @laybirdcoffee scale [pr] the more I love it. Responsive, accurate, versatile.
@flairespressomaker very kindly sent me their 49 Pro [pr]. I haven’t had much time to get stuck into it yet, but my initial experience is that manual espresso is so much fun. Can’t wait to explore more.
And I’m still loving morning coffees on the @fellowproducts Aiden. Easiest way to make great filter every day!
Do you wish you had the time to slow down and take a few minutes for yourself each morning? The @sageappliancesuk Barista Express helps me do exactly that. I don’t just get to enjoy a great cup of coffee - I also love the process of making it ☕️

The @aeropress is almost always the brewer I recommend to people wanting to take that first step into making better coffee. The barrier of entry is so low, and the results are crazy good. What’s not to love?

This coffee from @elsewhere_coffee & @coborn.coffee [gifted] is unreal — the notes of pink lemonade and raspberries are legit.
Loving the @laybirdcoffee scales [gifted] right now. I’m finding the different magnetic attachments super helpful.
And the @kintoeurope carafe is a beauty. A great birthday gift from my brother.

I’ve got a lot of time for the @hario_official V60 🫶 One of the first brewers I owned!
Side note - you’ll need a gooseneck kettle and a set of scales to use with a V60, so keep that in mind if you’re planning on picking one up 😊
What are your thoughts? Too much faff or a great way to get the best out of your beans?

Is speciality coffee losing its soul?
I know AI development isn’t directly comparable to technological improvements in coffee brewing, but there are some interesting parallels to consider.
Let me know your thoughts…
How many times did I say the words ‘French press’?
Any lovers of this brewer out there? Not one I use all that often, but it definitely has its benefits and can produce a great cup of coffee 👌
Which brewer should I look at next?

Delving into the land of weighing scales and grinders, ratios and recipes, extraction and tasting notes and processing methods… Is it really worth the time and effort and money? Why not just stick to the stuff you find in the supermarket - it’s all coffee at the end of the day, right?
I get that the world of speciality coffee isn’t for everyone - in particular, brewing speciality coffee at home. Not everyone wants to go down that rabbit hole and end up with a kitchen full of coffee paraphernalia. Some people want to make a cup of coffee in the most straightforward, cost-effective, unpretentious way possible. And others would rather not faff with making coffee at home at all, and only buy it from a cafe.
Total respect if that’s you.
However, I would say that if you’d consider yourself a CURIOUS person, speciality coffee could be so much fun for you. There’s a whole world of coffee stuff that has so many layers to it, and the beautiful thing is that your curiosity can take you as far as you want, and you can settle on any level.
Want to try some different brew methods until you find the one for you and then stop there? Awesome. Want to learn more about the science behind coffee extraction and which variables affect a brew in certain ways? Great. Want to learn about origins and altitudes and varietals and processes and roasting? Amazing!
Speciality coffee is worth getting into because it’s both an art AND a science, it’s an endless journey of learning, and you get to enjoy some incredibly tasty drinks along the way. Not to mention the social, economic and environmental benefits of buying speciality rather than commodity coffee, but that’s for another post…
This question has been floating around forever - can you burn coffee by using water that’s too hot?
I’m no coffee extraction expert, and this is a bit of a simplified explanation, but hopefully it’s a helpful starting point for understanding how water temperature might affect your brews 👌
