I’m thinking about a slightly cheesy anime about a boy’s dream to become a race car driver. Born in Japan, travels around Europe and finally gets to F1 where he is moderately successful.
I generated this image with the new GPT-4o image generation model based on a real photograph which it has modified following my prompt precisely. I’ve been disappointed by some aspects of the new model but it nails the photo to anime conversion.

I usually make classic car images but this time I’ve gone for one of my favourite cars: the 997 GT3 RS. It has required a lot more work than usual to get to the final image. I don’t know if I’m getting more picky or DALL•E 3 is getting worse over time but I’m struggling to get good images lately. Cars tend to have more errors, textures look badly finished, often get malformed letters…

There’s a new feature in DALL•E 3 that allows you to select an area in an image and tell it in words how you would like to modify it. It’s not working perfectly yet but it’s already useful. For example, the car in this drawing originally had stone guards which DALL•E perfectly removed once I told it to do so.

Good morning from a post-apocalyptic anime by Midjourney. The main character found an abandoned Porsche 911 one week after The Event and it has been using it since then for more than three years.
The large electromagnetic shock that occurred during The Event rendered all modern electronics useless. All newer cars with electronically-managed engines stopped working and could not be revived without major modifications. This 911 was a bit of a beater even before The Event. The engine leaks oil and one of the cylinders is not in great health. But the car still works well enough.

Lately, I haven’t been pleased with DALL·E 3 so I’m trying Midjourney now. It’s quite a different beast. Midjourney is not as good at generating cars with the correct shapes and it struggles to follow detailed instructions about how the image should be composed and what should and should not appear. On the other hand, it tends to generate tasteful images. It still requires a lot of effort to generate a good image though.
