Trip to Seoul 🇰🇷

小さな店を営む身として、休暇のために店を閉めることには、いつも少しの罪悪感が伴う。休むことよりも、働くべきではないかという静かな葛藤。
けれど、クリエイティブな精神には新しいインプットが必要だし、実際のところ、私の脳は完全にオフになることはない。どこへ行き、何を見ても、それは自然と自分の仕事（店）へのインスピレーションへと繋がっていく。
単調な日常から抜け出すために、ソウルは完璧な目的地だった。
一見すると、そこはトレンドの聖地。3Dの巨大なデジタル看板やポップな色彩が溢れ、より多くの消費を、より速く促すための仕組みが街中に張り巡らされている。革新的ではあるけれど、同時にそれは、買っては捨てるサイクルに人々を閉じ込める、過剰な刺激の風景でもある。ヴィンテージの価値やサステナビリティを大切にしたい身としては、巨大な広告の奥にある「本質」を、ノイズをすり抜けながら探している自分に気づく。
それでも、この街が持つ圧倒的な活気と冒険心には深く感銘を受けた。緻密に計算されたショップのディスプレイ、意図的な建築戦略、そして市場のみなぎるエネルギー。トレンドを追いかけるつもりはないけれど、現代のカルチャーがこれほど鮮やかに空間へと落とし込まれる様を見るのは、とても刺激的で、新鮮な経験だった。
この旅で得たものを、これからどう店に還元していくかはまだ分からない。けれど、一度場所を離れ、全く新しいものに触れ、脳をリセットすること。それはあらゆる意味で、必要なプロセスだったと思う。
As a small business owner, closing the shop for a vacation doesn’t come easily.
There is always a lingering sense of guilt, a feeling that I should be working rather than resting.
But a creative mind demands new input, and the truth is, my brain never actually stops. Wherever I go, I find myself connecting the things I see back to my work.
Seoul felt like the perfect antidote to a static routine.
On the surface, it’s a Mecca for what’s trending—a city dictated by 3D banners, massive screens, and pop colors designed to make you consume more, faster. It is innovative, yes, but it is also a hyper-stimulating landscape that can trap us into a cycle of buying and throwing away. As someone who advocates for vintage and sustainability, I found myself looking past the giant billboards, searching for the substance beneath the noise.
Yet, I was deeply impressed by the sheer vibrancy and adventure of it all. The meticulous store layouts, the deliberate architectural strategies, and the intense energy of the markets are impossible to ignore. I don't necessarily follow trends, but seeing how a city translates modern culture into physical spaces is incredibly grounding.
I’m not entirely sure how I will integrate this experience into the shop just yet.
But stepping away, seeing something entirely new, and allowing the brain to reset—that is good on so many levels.

一枚の服が、数十年の時を繋いでくれることがあります。
セーラーカラーには、いつも心が温かくなる特別な思い入れがあります。
子供の頃、叔母たちが私にセーラー服を着せてくれた記憶。当時の写真を見つけましたが、私はぐっすり眠っていてドレスの全貌までは見えません。それでも、あの「眠れる水兵さん」だった頃の幸福感は、今でも鮮明に覚えています。

ミラノから届いたこの新しいアイテムたちは、そんな物語の続きのようです。イタリアやクロアチアのヴィンテージ・ネイビーのトップスを、@vintageafropicks が丁寧にアップサイクルし、イラストレーターGigi @ggtarantola による刺繍を添えました。
刻まれたメッセージは、“La stessa Barca” ——「私たちは皆、同じ舟に乗っている」。✌️🕊️
すでに誰かの人生を歩んできた生地に、静かで平和な願いがステッチされています。
今回はミラノから持ち帰った数着のテスターのみ。元々がネイビー（海軍）の実物品なので、性別を問わず楽しめるユニセックスなシルエットが魅力です。
中には少し厚手で、今の季節には早いかな？と感じるものもありますが、クローゼットの中で長く大切にされるべき、揺るぎない質感を備えています。
サステナブルなファッションへの小さな試み。
ミラノで生まれ、今の空気に寄り添うメッセージを込めて。

Sometimes, a single item can bridge decades.
I’ve always had a soft spot for sailor clothes —a lingering memory of my aunts dressing me up in little nautical outfits when I was a child.
I found an old photo of one of those moments; I’m so deep in a nap that you can’t see the dress in full, but the feeling of being a “sleepy sailor” is still so clear.
These new pieces from Milan feel like a beautiful continuation of that story. They are vintage Italian and Croatian navy tops, upcycled with care by Vintageafropicks and featuring embroidery by the illustrator Gigi.
The message, La stessa Barca, means “We are all in the same boat.” It’s a quiet, peaceful reminder of our shared humanity, stitched onto fabric that has already lived a life of its own.
These specific pieces are just a few testers brought back from Milan. Since they are original navy items, they are unisex and have a wonderful, relaxed fit.
Some have a weight to them that feels substantial—perhaps a bit thick for the peak of summer, but they are exactly the kind of timeless items worth having in your closet.
A small project for sustainable fashion, born in Milan, carrying a message that feels right for right now.
