For every video you see of a hands-on tiger redirect, thereās a dozen more interactions where they just cruise on past. Tiger sharks are still apex predators though and you never know when they could change their mind, go for a follow through, or wiggle away which is why you always see us with our hands out ready to go.
Donāt get me wrong, making the connection with a LITERAL dinosaur is one of the most magical , out of body experiences Iāll ever have in my life, but Iām not ignorant to the fact that accidents can happen and thereās no point in going out of my way to chase a shark just to touch it - both for safety reasons and I wouldnāt someone running after me to touch my nose either.
Touching is either done due to a tiger shark approaching you and not changing direction, or on a tour when you need to change their course for them to keep them a safe distance from the guests.
It is always ALWAYS recommended to dive with professionals. I may make a lot of joking posts and I typically donāt get many eyes on my content anyway, but donāt get it twisted - I take these apex predators seriously and they deserve respect.
