Water’s Landing Pool Houses – Construction Progress
It’s always exciting to see a project move from vision to reality.
We’ve been visiting the Water’s Landing Pool Houses site at key milestones to stay engaged throughout construction and support the process through construction administration. These check-ins help ensure the design intent is being carried through while collaborating closely with the team on site.
A big thank you to Bill and Ben at Keller Brothers @kellerbrothers for their continued partnership and craftsmanship as this renovation takes shape.

POM Studio Presents: The Bee House🐝
At POM Studio, we design with a sensitivity to people and planet.
With the Bee House, we focused on sustainability and environmental responsibility as well as taking care and consideration for your home space and everyday living.
Design with Purpose🌿
At POM Studio sustainability is embedded in both strategy and aesthetics. The Bee House reflects this through:
-A green roof that supports Stormwater Management, insulation, and urban ecology
-A rain chain that transforms runoff in to a visible, sensory experience
-A rain garden and raised planters that manage water on-site while supporting pollinators and plant life
-Thoughtful daylighting and spatial planning that reduce energy demand and enhance comfort
Signature Features📍
POM Studio incorporated elements that push the design beyond normal aesthetics of the surrounding areas:
-The rear elevations (those roof profiles alone speak volumes)
-The Butterfly roof opens the home to the sun and sky, while quietly doing the work of sustainable water management.
-Renewable Energy: The main roof is angled with intention—designed to optimize southern exposure and support future solar panels.
-Interior Spaces: The upper level was created to allow for open air flow, efficient use of space and to allow for more light to enter in the central circulation core of the home.
Personal Touch🏠
This project took a little over two years to complete and it was worth every minute of it. The Bee House was designed to support family life at every scale—from shared, light filled spaces that bring everyone together to quieter nooks and a flexible lofts where the kids can enjoy a fun space to retreat and recharge. Throughout the home, strong connections to each other and nature is present in this project.
Thanks to the homeowners for allowing POM Studio to design and create a space for you and your family that is aligned with some of the values that we hold close to our practice. This past weekend, POM Studio Architects attended a Timber Frame Workshop hosted by the @craftwellpplschool and @earthboundbuilding .
The project we were working on was a timber frame pavilion for @wangarigardens which they are raising tomorrow, Saturday Nov 15. It was so fun to fellowship and learn new skills with like-minded people. There were people from all over that came to learn the history, techniques, and tools used in traditional Timber Framing.
Swipe to see the progress of the pavilion. Also, I wanted to mention the food we had on site was awesome! (s/o to Blain, he’s a good cook!) We gathered around the campfire during breaks and just shared a meal with awesome folks who see the value and appreciation of this craft. If you ever get an opportunity to participate in a Timber frame class or workshop, you should check it out. You never know what you might learn or even find yourself interested in.

Murals and green roofs and crains oh my.
We've been on a beautiful 4 year journey with @joesmovement and now excitedly underway exterior improvements.
The 4,000 sf green roof and 700 gallon rainbarrels will slow and catch storm water for irrigation.
Raised planters and bioswales will help with infiltration at grade. Resurfacing and regrading will allow for better accessibility to visits and community during outdoor performances.

This past week I took a trip North to show Cathryn where it all started in a beautiful fall setting. It's almost been 20 years since graduating from Cornell Architecture.
We visited the gorges, the slop, arts quad, the arch school of course, and basically lived in collegetown bagels.
Lots of nostalgia, joy, and even a bit of sorrow knowing some faces I wish I could see are no longer there. Leaving with gratitude and fun new memories. Change always comes. Hope to visit again. Hopefully before another 20 years.
