THE BOTTLE CLUB
Reframing Old Town Chiang Mai Through Curves, Concrete, and Corrugated Light
Located in Chiang Mai’s Old Town, "The Bottle Club" operates as both a curated wholesale destination for fine wines and spirits and a convivial bar for dining and social exchange. The project embraces an adaptive reuse strategy, retaining the integrity of the original shophouse while introducing a contemporary design language that balances industrial rawness with measured warmth—bridging the charm of the past with the rhythm of present-day urban life.
Corrugated polycarbonate sheets are reinterpreted as architectural features, crafted into custom wine racks and ceiling elements that softly filter light and cast rhythmic shadows across raw plaster walls. At the heart of the space, a cylindrical design motif defines key elements—from speaker enclosures and illuminated signage to a revolving entrance door—establishing a cohesive spatial identity. The central U-shaped bar, clad in brushed stainless steel, anchors the interior; its curved surface reflects light and movement in subtle gradients. Black stools trace the arc of the counter, encouraging communal interaction and fluid circulation.
A full-height shelving wall functions as a library of bottles, meticulously arranged and visually striking. Adjacent to the main area, a glass-enclosed, temperature-controlled wine room reveals its carefully curated collection. Original concrete floors, exposed plaster, and structural elements are intentionally preserved, reinforcing the building’s authenticity. The result is a space that feels raw yet refined—deliberate, atmospheric, and warmly inviting.
