Painting over an old painting. Sometimes it’ll be 3 or 4 layers before an idea sticks, and the older one usually becomes part of the newer one. It takes a while sometimes to admit an old canvas has run its course, but provides some nice closure.
Most of the paintings that I’ve liked don’t come on the first try, they’re almost always painted over something else. The pressures off, and the background has some depth to work off.
Also square rock I found
24 x 30”
Never posted this one properly
20x24” Oil on Canvas
This one was one of the first successful paintings I did that combined brushstrokes effectively. Just like combining mediums, I’ve found it’s very hard to get right without diluting the effect of either. After not liking what I painted initially, I rubbed it out and discovered this effect, not perfectly blended but enough to remove the details.
Considering what to put on my family crest.
How associations are triggered by form, objects become bigger than themselves. But if you look at something too closely it loses meaning.
