1st Place for PanoramaPark!
Our design proposal, PanoramaPark, is the winning entry in the design competition for a 15-kilometer-long ring of parks weaving through the Dutch city of Leiden.
It is being developed as an ecological network that brings peace, space, and a sense of wonder closer to people, plants, and animals alike. The development will emerge from eleven distinctive ‘icons’—new urban destinations with (inter)national appeal. Combined with ‘Sparks’ in every neighborhood and an ‘Arcadian landscape’, PanoramaPark will grow into one coherent whole.
The scale of this project is both unique and meaningful—for the city and the region. With more water and rich planting, the landscape in and around the city will come to life again. We look forward to further developing the design together with the Municipality of Leiden and its residents.

Park and public space design Skoatterwâld
Together with @dezwartehond we presented the urban plan and public space design for Skoatterwâld in the city of @gem_heerenveen . Within the plan, Polyfern designed two park distinctive park areas. One is characterised by a patchwork of hedgerows and forest-blocks, with a sports route meandering through it. The other one presents itself as a hilly playing landscape, bordered by rows of trees. With these simple design elements, a recognisable public space is created that blends into the landscape.

In deze archiefworkshop, onderdeel van Netwerk 'Geheugen van het ontworpen landschap' neem je samen met andere tuin- en landschapsarchitecten, makers en organisaties je archief onder de loep, en zet je concrete stappen om je archief te organiseren.
De workshop start met een presentatie van landschapsarchitect Jorrit Noordhuizen. Hij zal vertellen hoe @polyfern_landscape omgaat met archiefmateriaal van voorganger ontwerpers, en hoe ze dit slim toepassen in oude en nieuwe opgaven zoals bij het project Stadsbos Almerehout en de landschapsvisie van Flevoland. Begeleid door archiefcoaches leer je hierna in de workshop hoe je je archief kan ordenen en beschrijven, en ook om doelgericht te bepalen wat er wel en niet opgenomen wordt en voor welke doelgroepen je het toegankelijk wil maken.

Exploring the future: the Lelylijn-railroad in the year 2125
Over the past six months Polyfern i.c.w. @dezwartehond and @delelylijn , investigated the long-term impact of the new Lelylijn-railroad on the northern region of the Netherlands. Four scenarios explore what living, working, and everyday life could look like in 2125, and the role the Lelylijn could play within them. The study shows that the Lelylijn is much more than rails and stations, and that it can have an enormous influence on the landscape, climate and futures of the cities.

Commissioned by the municipality of Almere and Governmental Real Estate Agency, together with @bright.coop and @bura_amsterdam we developed a masterplan (research by design) for the new urban development of Almere Pampus (between 25,000 and 35,000 new homes). Almere Pampus is an urban development at the crossroads of a pan-European nature connection. Surrounded by water and with nature right up to the front door, six special residential environments and a rich public space are created on a cape on the Markermeer lake. A place where wetland nature meets new town.

Een groene ring rondom en door de stad Leiden met ruimte voor water en biodiversiteit. Dat is het PanoramaPark, het winnende plan van ontwerpbureau Polyfern landscape architects. Op woensdagavond 14 mei tijdens het 34ste Stadscafé van RAP gingen landschapsarchitect Jorrit Noordhuizen (Polyfern), Annick Dezitter (rector van het Da Vinci College Kagerstraat) en Peter Veenstra (LOLA) in gesprek met elkaar en een zaal vol geïnteresseerde Leidenaren.
“En dat is precies het doel van onze Stadscafés. Experts en publiek gaan in gesprek over actuele, ruimtelijke thema’s. Vanavond betrekken we Leidenaren bij een mooi, nieuw en groen initiatief en geven we de winnaar een platform. Ik hoop dat het PanoramaPark de mensen inspireert en op ideeën brengt”, vertelt Krijn Tabbers, voorzitter van RAP vooraf.
