The Calculus of Relationships

This work portrays human beings who navigate relationships through calculation and strategy rather than emotion.
The overlapping faces represent multiple selves that shift depending on the relationship, while the differing gazes signify constant judgment, suspicion, and defense.
The chess pieces symbolize a calculative attitude that views relationships as a game, the moon represents hidden emotions and anxiety, and the jar signifies accumulated wounds and betrayal.
Overall, the piece expresses skepticism and distrust toward human relationships, as well as the fragmented self that emerges within them.
