There are a few more spots in my online Shadow Puppetry mechanics workshop for Chicago Puppet Fest starting tomorrow, Wednesday April 22. Five 2 hour live sessions over 2 weeks with a small group (maximum 15). It’s a very participatory workshop largely experimenting together to prototype movement in flat puppets with simple levers, and talking about what we find as a group. This is a level 2 class, some previous work with shadow puppetry is recommended but not required. Sessions are not recorded, though some of my demos will be available to watch again. It’s Tom Lee week. This is one of the shadow sequences I made for the Hell Screen portion of Akutagawa, a show Tom Lee created with his puppetry teacher Kuryu Nishikawa V. It was projected on stage by Chris Carcione. Tom’s body of work is on exhibit at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta.
