I went to the British Museum and saw about 10% of the exhibitions. This 3000 year old Shabti Doll was my favourite though!
These were buried with the dead as a worker to take the place of the deceased if they were called on to do some jobs in the afterlife. The Shabti would answer in their place. The word "Shabti" translates to "Answerer".
This specific shabti is the Ba bird which represented the soul's mobility after death.
