Ever managed different audio setups for live performance and broadcast streaming at the same time? It can be a tricky balance. The @point_source_audio CX2-8D HYBRID headset microphone is designed for seamless audio control with a combined cardioid capsule and omnidirectional capsule in one mic boom. A HYBRID mic gives you: ✅ Dual-Capsule Design: It features both a cardioid capsule (great for focused sound) and an omnidirectional capsule (perfect for capturing ambient audio). ✅ Ultimate Audio Control: Adjust your sound for live PA and broadcast streams simultaneously. ✅ Effortless Workflow: Switch between capsules at FOH to maintain high audio quality across different platforms. If you’ve ever had to choose between “sounds good in the room” vs “sounds good on the stream”… this is how you stop choosing. Save this for your next live/broadcast setup. Share with someone who’s mixing both PA + broadcast on the same show. Headed to NAB? Come see the Point Source Audio HYBRID Lavalier in action at Booth C4113.📍 #NAB #lavalier #broadcasting #soundengineer #livesound

Lavaliers are as unique and varied as their use cases. When choosing a lavalier mic, ask: How loud is the source? How much detail do you need? And how controlled is the environment? Those three things will tell you exactly which Lavalier mic would work best for you. If you’re miking strong vocals, the CO-8WL handles high SPL up to 136 dB without folding under powerful singers or live performance dynamics. Need one lav to cover both speech and vocals? The GO-9WL gives you high sensitivity with high max SPL, which is why it works so well in theatre dialogue, houses of worship, and broadcast workflows where talent shifts constantly between speaking and singing. And reliability matters too. The CO2-8WL gives you dual elements in a single cable, so you can double mic talent instantly without doubling rigging time or changing the visual profile. Then there’s environment. If you’re fighting loud stages, reflective rooms, or setups with heavy potential for bleed, a cardioid lav like the CR-8L gives you strong isolation and more usable rejection before you ever touch EQ. Capsule choice changes workflow just as much as it changes sound. LINK IN BIO to use our MicFinder tool. Podcasting changed when audiences started watching instead of just listening. Traditional boom mics are made for vocals in the studio… where podcasting started. But once you start thinking about: 👉 camera framing 👉 movement 👉 multi-angle shots showing the mic 👉 fast setups 👉 cleaner look …the list of what you need to get quality sound pickup starts expanding. That’s why more podcasters and creators are moving to on-ear lavalier setups instead. Rather than stylize a boom mic, or build the shot to help it blend in, an on-ear lavalier mic disappears on camera so the focus is on the conversation. What you get? More consistent pickup, cleaner framing, and less hardware between the audience and the conversation. @PointSourceAudio EMBRACE on-ear lavaliers were designed to conceal in seconds, move with you, and capture every moment consistently which means less fixing in post. 🔗Link in our bio to see the full EMBRACE on-ear lavalier lineup 📌 Save this if you’re thinking of upgrading your podcast setup and share with another creator who would enjoy having a cleaner shot #lavalier #podcastgear #podcastsetup #proaudio #sounddesign

Better Hearing & Speech Month is a good moment to zoom out from the mix, and look at the room. 🎧 If you work in live sound, broadcast, or event production, the six @who safe listening guidelines are worth building into your workflow: 1. Sound level below 100 dB 2. The sound level has to be actively monitored to ensure compliance with the limit of 100 dB 3. Venue acoustics and sound systems should be optimized for safe listening, so far as is reasonably practicable 4. Personal hearing protection should be available to audience members at the venue/event 5. A designated quiet zone or zones will allow audience members to rest their ears from high sound levels 6. Appropriate training and information about safe listening is needed and must be provided 👉 The goal isn’t lower energy. It’s controlled energy. It’s about mixes that are full and dynamic, and keep your audience from walking out with ringing ears. Better sound doesn’t need to be louder. It needs to be intentional. 📌 Save this for your next sound check and FOLLOW @point_source_audio to stay in the conversation. #livesound #proaudio #soundengineering #liveeventproduction #hearinghealth

How would you mic a podcast… in a sauna? Moving a podcast out of a studio sounds simple, until you actually do it. 😵‍💫 @beattheheatpodcast and @toddanderson42_ leaned into a more unpredictable podcasting setup, and you can immediately see how many small things start working against you, especially with achieving clean, consistent audio capture. There’s no consistent mic position, people shift around naturally, and you lose a lot of the audio control. Even if you’re not doing something extreme like podcasting in a sauna, the same issues show up the second you move away from a desk setup. When guests aren’t fixed in place, microphone placement gets harder to manage. That’s where the EMBRACE on-ear lavaliers make the difference. Keeping the mic in a fixed position relative to the mouth solves a lot of those mic placement problems upfront, in a way that a traditional lavalier can’t. If you’re experimenting outside the podcast studio… check out our EMBRACE on-ear lavalier line at the link in our bio to see which mic works best for your setup. 🔗 ✅️ FOLLOW @point_source_audio for more audio gear insights. 👉 Share with a sound designer who would appreciate less patchwork in post. #lavalier #proaudio #podcastgear #sounddesigner #podcastsetup

“How will the mic work further away from the mouth?”... Fair question. Adding a small gain adjustment from the start is the key to an on-ear lavalier sounding great and still being well within a strong signal-to-noise range. What you gain? (pun intended 🤭) 👉 consistent, quick placement 👉 stability through movement 👉 cleaner visual profile So the question shifts from “is it closer?” to “is it consistent and clean?” Check out the @Point_Source_Audio ’s EMBRACE on-ear lavalier line when you want to trade a slight distance increase for a repeatable, consistent signal and a discreet look. 📍 Link in bio 📌 Save this for your next gear upgrade 📤 Share this with another sound engineer who would appreciate the controlled placement #livesound #lavalier #broadcasting #proaudio #headsets

If you want your mics to last, reducing cable strain is key. Cable failures can come from tension at the connector, the head frame, or from tucking into a collar or clothes. And when talent moves or adjusts wardrobe often?... 😖 The cable direction matters just as much as where the headset is placed. We build our headsets and on-ear lavaliers with this in mind to let the cable lay in a natural, low-stress path, so it moves with the talent. Less tugging built into the design = longer mic life. 📌 Share this with an engineer friend who’s trying to extend the life of their gear. 👉 Follow @point_source_audio for more tips and mics design details that help your workflow.
