People see threads or just a uniform, but I see the fabric that binds us together and makes us family.
I see the uncles, the sisterhood, the grandfather figures, and the lifelong bonds we gain from playing this game. A lot of people see coaching as just teaching basketball, but they never got to see the life lessons they were really coaching us through.
We did not just lose coaches. We lost pillars in our community. We lost people who cared, sacrificed their time, and poured into us so we could achieve our dreams.
The relationships with these coaches never stopped. They would send messages congratulating us after a good game, or words of encouragement after a disappointing loss. They would stop by the house when we were home and look out for my family when I was away.
I gained two more angels in the sky. You both will truly be missed, but your legacies live through all of us. We will continue to make you proud.
Time is not guaranteed, make the time for those you love and those who love you. Keana
