You show me with pride
plants found and collected,
how they’ve nurtured and grown
in the sunlight you’ve shown,
in your tropical sanctuary
your new home.
Ice-cream dreams,
Rock that snaps your teeth,
Fish and chips to eat
Tastes like salt and sea.
Seagulls squawking loud,
Duck as they dive around;
Can you hear the sound?
Waltzers, screaming crowds.
I will paint the blueberries
And I will paint the sky,
I’ll paint the things I see
And never question why.
I paint the things I love,
To let the hours fly
The aim to try and capture them
Through my observing eye.
You tapped me on the shoulder
Through a confetti of colour,
A warped perspective,
Every seen angle reflected.
Reconfiguration of life
Through purpose and eye,
A joy forgotten of nature and time.
