👀 You may have heard the news and yes, it's true. Poder NC will close by then end of 2025. Our full statement is in the link in our bio. Change is constant and this transition marks not an ending of our collective power, but a transformation—the skills, relationships, and political consciousness we've built continue to fuel justice work across our state. Before we ride off into the sunset 🌅 our leadership team will share more of our vision for North Carolina and our lessons in leadership, so stay tuned. Finally, we will have a farewell celebration that we hope you RSVP to (link in bio) on November 9th. Y'all know how we throw down🎉, and we can't wait to honor this part of our journey with you. Gracias por imaginar cosas chingonas by building people power with us!🔥✊ And don't forget, lo último que se pierde es la esperanza, the last thing we lose is hope. We must choose hope, especially in these times and THAT is an act of courage.

There's so much to be proud of about our time in the sunshine 🔥🎉. Check our a reel that combines various experiences that we had from creating dynamic and imaginative events, like Ballots y Belleza, Parties at the Polls, Youth Summits, to creating telenovelas that cast our community as the protagonists of our democracy not merely bystanders. We can't be what we don't imagine; and if we want to win, we have to keep imagining cosas chingonas, carajo!

This year's municipal elections gave us a preview of what we can look forward to -- from historic number of Latinx candidates stepping up to lead across NC by running for office, to major victories as we saw the results come in across NC and the nation. The common denominator is that voters want champions for the people. They want folks who understand their lived experiences from their own personal journeys navigating the broken systems all around us. Today we celebrate the victories of everyday working people choosing to represent their neighbors by serving in elected positions. ¡Hasta la victoria!

As we wrap up a week of celebration, we can't end without giving a glimpse of those we believe make our state better through their work and service to our communities. The powerful mujeres of this post are just some of the many Latinas transforming North Carolina ✨🌎. Together, they are the stars in our Chingona Constellation—leaders, creators, and visionaries who remind us that our comunidad shines brightest when we lift each other up. As we celebrate Poder NC’s 6th anniversary alongside Poderistas’ 5 years of impact 🔥, we honor the brilliance, resilience, and unapologetic poder of Latinas shaping our future. Which Latina do YOU want to shine a light on?

Music has always been more than rhythm and lyrics—it’s a soundtrack for justice, resilience, and community power. Through song, artists tell our stories, confront injustice, and remind us of the world we’re fighting to build. From the Afro-Cuban rhythms of Celia Cruz, to the fierce ranchera anthems of Paquita la del Barrio, to the bicultural pride of Selena Quintanilla, music uplifts marginalized voices and celebrates cultural identity. Artists like Kali Uchis and Maria Zardoya carry this tradition forward—blending sounds, languages, and lived experiences to echo immigrant rights, bicultural pride, and the demand for dignity and representation. Together, their music reminds us that culture IS power, and that joy, resilience, and pride are central to building a just and liberated future. 💜🌎✊🏽 And of course, we can't have any celebration -- including anniversaries -- without some good music!

We continue our celebration of 6 years of Poder NC + 5 years of Poderistas by highlighting 5 (of many more) connections between Black & Latinx cultures. Multiracial solidarity in organizing is easy to talk about but hard to live out. Often, the first step is finding common ground through shared experiences. What other common cultural elements would you add to the list?

In this vibrant moment of colaboración and comunidad, we honor five Latina-owned businesses that are transforming their industries and nurturing cultura through creativity, deliciousness, and purpose. From community-centered storytelling through food to beautifully crafted products, each business reflects something we all share, an appetite to inform, celebrate, and motivate chingonas to step into their power and bet on themselves and our communities.
