✨ Student Show 2026 Feature: Boston University ✨ We’re excited to highlight three artists from Boston University featured in this year’s PRC Student Show: Rory McNamara, August Puplava, and Vic Ferreira Sardinha. Now in its 20th year, the PRC Student Show celebrates artists at formative stages in their creative development, bringing together work from 42 students across eight colleges and universities, as well as three local high schools across Boston. The 2026 PRC Student Show is fully sponsored by Stanhope Framers (@stanhopeframers ), whose generous support has made this exhibition and its related programming possible. @rorykmcnamara @makesm_art @vicfersard

Rory McNamara’s (@rorykmcnamara ) current body of work explores her internal landscapes as a means of self-understanding, using the natural world as a mirror for their emotional and psychological states. Using photography, she reflects how her emotions and thoughts connect with nature, creating images that blur the line between her surroundings and her sense of self. Rory’s work is currently on display in the Fluid Foundations exhibition at the Griffin Museum of Photography at the Lafayette City Center Passageway through January 5th, 2026. 🔗 Tap the link in bio and read our latest conversation with Rory McNamara about self-exploration and landscape photography. 🗓️ UPCOMING EVENT: The Griffin Museum is pleased to celebrate the work of Boston University’s Print Media & Photography masters students in their exhibition, Fluid Foundations (@pmp.bu ) 📍 Join us in person at our satellite location, Lafayette City Center Passageway, on Saturday January 3rd from 2 to 4pm for a special artist reception.

For Emily Taylor Rice, MA Art Education, MFA Print Media & Photography, (CFA ‘21 ‘24), making art is a way of both processing and representing. Building upon her own experiences and the stories of others, Emily illustrates the complex, emotional, and tumultuous realities of mental illness and substance use disorders through her multimedia pieces. Emily (@emily.taylor.rice.studio ) emphasized that artistic practice is continuous, whether or not she’s physically producing pieces or not. Feeding your practice can take many forms. For Emily, it’s everything from impromptu photographing a lone liquor bottle abandoned in a parking lot to taking courses on neurobiology. Her work, like her artistic practice, reflects the cyclical nature of living as a maker. There are times when life gets busy, or responsibilities change, or things simply are too much, and Emily emphasized the importance of staying kind to yourself through the ebb and flow. “I have to be gracious with myself and remember that there are seasons for making and that there are seasons for doing the research,” Emily said. “So right now, it’s a season for teaching and a season for behind-the-making stuff.”
