With Womenâs History Month in mind, we wanted to share some historical photos and one of the most meaningful parts of our homeâs story: by the early 1850s, it was serving as the dining hall and dormitory for the womenâs college next door.
The college is gone, but this house remains. Upstairs, single beds were once separated by privacy screens, one of those details that makes the history feel especially real.
By 1852, women in Liberty were studying Greek, French, literature, music, drawing, painting, criticism, and theology. Restoring this home feels like caring for one of the last remaining links to that world.
