The Vancouver Canucks officially announced a major front office shakeup. Daniel and Henrik Sedin, franchise legends who spent their entire NHL careers in Vancouver and helped define the team’s identity for years, are stepping into leadership roles as Co-Presidents of Hockey Operations‼️
Ryan Johnson, a longtime Canucks executive and former player who has been with the organization since 2013, is taking over as General Manager after helping guide Abbotsford to a Calder Cup Championship in 2025 as GM 🏆
This move comes after the firing of former GM Patrik Allvin, while former President Jim Rutherford transitions into an advisory role after the NHL Draft.
Vancouver is clearly doubling down on internal leadership and Canucks culture 💙💚

The Vancouver Canucks will pick 3rd overall in the 2026 NHL Draft after the 2026 NHL Draft Lottery shakeup 🫣🏒
Despite entering the lottery with top odds, Vancouver slides to pick #3, while the Toronto Maple Leafs jump from 5th-best odds to take #1 overall and the San Jose Sharks, with 2nd-best odds, land the #2 pick.
Still a huge opportunity at #3 with a stacked draft class. Vancouver could still land a franchise-changing player‼️ The last time the Canucks had picks this high were the Sedin twins in 1999.
But yeah, this one stings a bit 🥲 Maybe, just maybe, the Canucks curse is real.
