Homebound 001
Two-hour live plot at
@manacontemporary this past Saturday. 34 pens and 20 interpretations of what home means to people; deconstructed, abstracted, juxtaposed. Images fed through drawingbotv3, audio files turned into waveforms, text messages fed through TTS software to ultimately become waveforms.
The set of lines making up the waveforms unique to each person and their answers. Lines are either filtered out based off size, offset, lofted, rotated around a point, spread across a 2D field randomly, turned into circles based off their length, rotated around a central point in 3D to make a noisy mesh, etc.
Probably spent around 150 hours iterating and learning for this piece. Despite the time it took and maybe only 4 strangers walking into the room while I was working (lmao), my family and a bunch of friends were present or rooting me on from afar - and that's what really matters. This opportunity, reading through their thoughtful responses, & sharing this experience with them is the takeaway โจ
This is hopefully just the start of an ongoing series in collaboration with
@itsdense . If you'd like to participate, call 551-220-2368 to leave a voicemail or text something specific that feels like home to you.
For future pieces, I'd love to explore different abstract forms of representation or lean into one or two and see what the output can be.
