What an inspiring week! 🌟 We are re-sharing our highlights for a full overview of our speakers and sessions. A HUGE thank you to these leaders for sharing their expertise with us! Our students gained invaluable insights from the best in the field. 🏛️💼
(And we appreciate our community’s grace -- in the excitement of #PLEN26spring, a few typos slipped through our earlier posts.)

#PLENspring26 ended with a bang! We were joined by Molly Kellogg for Learning LinkedIn, Savannah Lane for a Running for Office Simulation, and Rosa Barrientos-Ferrer for Immigration Policy. We are so grateful to those who volunteer to support PLEN, and it was great to have two alums from our friends at Running Start join us!
With that, the 2025-26 school year of in-person PLEN programming comes to a close, but keep an eye out for details on our upcoming Mentor Awards! Thank you to Verizon, all of our volunteers, and our amazing STUDENTS for a great seminar!

Day 1 of #PLENspring26 Seminar was a hit at the DC Verizon Office. Our students enjoyed sessions on Launching Your Career, Networking 101, and a Diplomacy Simulation. We closed the day with a lovely networking reception at Bobby Van's Steakhouse downtown. Thank you to all of our excellent speakers for your time and commitment to PLEN, and to Verizon and Bobby Van's Steakhouse for hosting us.

At PLEN, we see the value and importance of education, and so do our students. We were so glad this past week to welcome Holly Evans, a PLEN Alum from 2024, and Claire Viall of Strada Education Foundation to speak on an inspiring Education Policy panel. Who knows, PLEN students, maybe in a few years YOU will be speaking on a panel like Holly and Claire. Your future is unwritten, but one thing we know for certain is the power of the PLEN community and the lifelong connections made with alumni, volunteers, and staff. Thank you to all of our alumni volunteers!

Time flies when you're having fun! We sure did at PLEN last week. A bittersweet end to our Winter seminar started with a Learning LinkedIn workshop with Molly Kellogg and a Resume Review Session with Gamble Hayden helping to demystify two ever important methods of professional marketing. Our day closed with an empowering session on Voting Rights Policy with Meredith Horton and Monica Wiley, moderated by PLEN Alum Emmy Wydman. Thank you to everyone who made this seminar such an exquisite experience for our students and to our students for your engagement and enthusiasm. We know you will go far in this world and can't wait to see what you do in the future!

Last Thursday, day 4 of #PLEN26Winter Seminar was another day filled with fun and insightful opportunities for our students. We welcomed the co-author of "Feminist Foreign Policy in Theory and in Practice," Stephanie Foster, who signed copies of her book for all of her students. The day continued with tours of the Capitol Building (a PLEN favorite). We closed with panels on living in the "real world" as a young professional with Sarah Fiorito, Riley Link, and Chelsea Dade, and Human Rights and LGBTQ+ Policy with Charlotte Clymer and Yesenia Alvarado Henninger. Thank you to all of our volunteers and NEI for welcoming us back again.

On Wednesday, January 7th, L Street Partners and PLEN hosted our annual Welcome Back to Congress Networking Reception in conjunction with the PLEN 2026 Winter Public Policy Seminar. We honored Representative Adelita Grijalva (AZ-7), Representative Julie Johnson (TX-22), and Representative Judy Chu (CA-28), who took the time to speak to our students and show us what it means to be a true leader. Thank you, Representatives, and to your staff for your words of wisdom and dedication to uplifting the next generation of policy and lawmakers.
We're incredibly grateful to our amazing long-term sponsor, State and Federal Communications, for being a continued ally of PLEN, and to the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) and The American Maritime Congress for supporting this reception as well. Thank you to Oracle Townhouse for hosting us, our almost 100 attendees, and five volunteers for an excellent evening, and to What the Chef for the delicious catering. We hope to see you all at future PLEN Events.
