As seen on @verandamag this new Great Room in Birmingham, Alabama pays homage to the owner’s decade of residency in eastern Pennsylvania. The traditional fully wood-paneled fireplace wall, reclaimed wood ceiling, granite stone surround, and carefully scaled furnishings and art all help create an elegant and relaxed atmosphere. On a recent trip to Phoenix, we made the pigramage to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West. Fascinating on so many levels. What started out in 1937 as a winter “camp” for his family and architectural studio, eventually became his main office headquarters in 1954. “Organic architecture” was the goal for this complex of buildings and fountains. #taliesinwest #frankllyodwright #arizonaarchitecture #organicarchitecture

Two of our current residential projects are finishing up in a couple of months. The front entry facades of these two projects have similar arrangements and numbers of components, but are articulated quite differently to reflect their respective regional context and/or preferred architectural character.
