"It was the 12mm that became the film's most expressive tool. In the first two acts of Cyclops, the 12mm lives entirely in the world of geography. Wide shots in tight interiors, giving cramped rooms a sense of compressed scale. It shows up quietly, doing functional work, and then disappears. It's not in your face.
"Then the hypnosis begins. The moment the Cyclops exerts his power, we moved the 12mm onto faces."

I had the privilege to produce Here and Elsewhere (2024) directed by @david.wd a documentary about homeland and exile.
It centers Palestinian artist Malak Mattar @malakmattarart ,trying to make sense of life in London while the genocide continues in Palestine. Through a simple shot / reverse shot structure, the film juxtaposes Malak’s account of Palestine with images of London’s everyday calm. It is in this tension between sound and image that the film locates its meaning, where the two remain unresolved. In that gap, the film turns back to the viewer and the rest of the world who’s just watching.
