What does squatting mean at a time when the right to housing is under greater pressure than ever? And what insights do stories and events from the past related to squatting and housing rights offer for the future?
Claiming the City โ A Squatters' Allegory is an exhibition by artist Mirka Farabegoli (NL/IT), in which her personal experiences with communal living and the memories of others from the squattersโ movement take centre stage. Through drawings, a long mural and graphic work, she interweaves memories, fuond archival material on housing rights and contemporary stories. She links the everyday to broader social structures through the use of metaphors and symbolism.

In the participatory exhibition PLAYTIME!, artists use play to create a space where major topics can be discussed with the younger generation. Various artists use game mechanisms as a means of reflection, world-building and social engagement.
The work of Eloรฏse Bonneviot & Anne de Boer, Priscila Fernandes, The Institute of Queer Ecology, and Lisa Matthys is presented in the exhibition. Through interactive storytelling, the creation of alternative worlds, and participation, the artworks raise major questions about justice, the future, and technology, open for discussion, and invite visitors to think, build, and play along.

This evening brings together art, performance, and protest. Theater maker Anna Podt takes us into the world of the Amsterdam womenโs house and radical lesbian-feminist activism of the 1970s, followed by a collective walk into Nijmegenโs Heksennacht protest march.

Looking for a space to come together, reflect, and engage? Join us on the 9th of May for an afternoon of film and conversation.
Weโll screen ๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ข๐๐๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ (34 min, 2025), a documentary by Aylin Kuryel, Fฤฑrat Yรผcel, and Deniz Buฤa, following the student encampment in Amsterdam and the energy of protest, solidarity, and resistance in the streets.
The screening starts with a short reading and is followed by an open discussion with the filmmakers and a member of the Nijmegen encampment. Hosted by @mosssocialclub

Tijdens deze gratis workshop ontwerp je een eigen protestbord of -vlag om een belangrijk onderwerp, probleem, persoon of gebeurtenis zichtbaar te maken. Wat wil jij veranderen? Wie of wat verdient volgens jou meer aandacht?
