The new EU #Bioeconomy Strategy sends an important signal - and we at FKuR fully support this step.
#Bioplastics are positioned much more prominently as a strategic building block for a sustainable and competitive European economy in the recently published EU Bioeconomy Strategy. In doing so, the EU is expanding the previous focus of the #PPWR — which was strongly geared toward design for recycling and the use of recycled materials — by adding another central pillar. The EU has set the objective of integrating bio-based plastics into a coherent PPWR architecture and recognizing them as a complement to recycled-content targets.
From our perspective, this is the right and necessary step:
Bio-based drop-in plastics, such as I'm green™ biobased PE, are just as high-performing and recyclable as conventional plastics — while offering decisive additional benefits:
• lower carbon footprint due to renewable feedstocks
• contribution to defossilization and a carbon-neutral economy
• material options for applications where recycled plastics reach their limits (e.g., contact-sensitive packaging)
By establishing criteria and targets for bio-based plastics within the PPWR framework, packaging manufacturers and brand owners would finally gain planning and investment certainty. Additional benefits would include:
• clear rules for the use of bio-based plastics
• improved comparability and credibility, with less greenwashing
• new options for sustainable packaging design
We are deeply committed to the concept of the circular economy with a strong focus on CO₂ reduction — and have been putting this approach into practice for more than 30 years.
For us, it is clear: a functioning circular economy requires both recycled materials and bio-based plastics — where they make the most sense and embedded within a robust regulatory framework.
We are actively supporting this transition and are keen to contribute our materials expertise and market knowledge to the dialogue.
📩 Get in touch — together, we can shape the future of #sustainable #plastics.

FKuR presents the first prototypes from the European research project @biobive at the K – The World's No.1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber in Düsseldorf. The Hashtag#biodegradable Hashtag#agricultural film on display at our booth today is a prime example of the progress being made in sustainable plastic solutions for agriculture.
What makes this project so special? The BioBIVE Project is developing innovative systems that combine sustainable Hashtag#materials with the controlled release of Hashtag#biobased and bioactive substances to effectively combat plant diseases. Within the project, FKuR is responsible for developing raw material solutions for soil-biodegradable agricultural films. The goal is to support important horticultural crops such as tomatoes, carrots, and especially strawberries, fostering real added value for European agriculture and the environment. Together, we are shaping the future of sustainable agricultural technology! Visit us at our booth in hall 6 booth E48 and discover our latest innovations.
At the K – The World's No.1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber things are really heating up – and it’s all with a good dose of humor! 😄
Our colleague asked for a raise and wore a helmet from VOSS-HELME GmbH & Co. KG just to be on the safe side. It is made from Terralene®, a #biobased #plastic renowned for its excellent impact resistance, ensuring safety and durability. Our boss performs the “toughness test.” But don’t worry – it’s all in good fun. The results speak for themselves: colleague unharmed, material top quality! Our materials really stand up to the challenge! At FKuR, we prove that sustainable plastics are not only environmentally conscious but also robust, versatile, and future-proof – whether at the booth or in real-world use.
Come by and learn more about our #bioplastics and #recyclates in Hall 6, Booth E48 – we look forward to seeing you!
