Elmina is the first impact film I made. The film touches on various intersecting topics from plastic pollution to distant water fleets emptying West Africa's ocean of fish to the disproportionate impact global systems have on coastal communities the world over.
Elmina is being added to the SEE+Δ (See Positive Change) platform.
SEE+Δ (SEE Positive Change) is a film library and impact distribution initiative from Plastic Oceans International. They use short documentaries and structured dialogue to create shared learning experiences around today’s environmental challenges.
Through film curation, screenings, and discussion-driven experiences, they help communities, students, and employees explore the interconnected systems shaping the world around them.
In Ghana, Clean Ocean Ghana is bringing climate films into classrooms, public markets, and fishing villages. One fisherman who attended one of the screenings said that after watching ELMINA, it was the first time he truly connected plastic pollution as a threat to his own livelihood. Another young girl, moved by what she saw, began making eco-bricks from coastal waste.
This is what film can do when paired with dialogue: open space for truth, and then move people toward action.

Can a film really change the world?”
We asked this question to our panelists right after screening Plastic Oceans International films at COP30 — as part of the Blue Communities Program.
And guess what the most common answer was?
“Yes — because stories make you feel before they make you act.” 🎥💙
Films don’t just show climate change…
They humanize it.
They localize it.
They turn distant statistics into faces, voices, and lived realities.
Every frame becomes a lesson.
Every story becomes a spark.
Every viewer becomes a potential changemaker. At COP30, we witnessed it again:
The power of storytelling to shift mindsets, inspire action, and build communities that protect our blue planet. 🌊🌿
Here’s to more films, more conversations, more courage —
And to everyone willing to watch, reflect, and rise. ♻️💫

Proud to represent @plasticoceans Blue Communities Program
Week 2 at #COP30 ended with purpose and gratitude.
We hosted 4 powerful screenings at our partners’ pavilions each one sparking conversations on ocean protection, plastic reduction, and community-led action.
About the Blue Communities Program:
🌍 A global initiative supporting coastal communities in reducing plastic pollution.
🤝 Works with local leaders, educators, and youth to build circular, regenerative systems.
🎥 Uses storytelling and documentaries to highlight the human impact of plastics and inspire action.
🔵 Active in multiple countries, bringing science, advocacy, and grassroots empowerment together.
🌱 Focuses on long-term solutions from education to policy to sustainable alternatives.
Standing here, sharing my voice and stories with the world, is more than representation — it’s responsibility.
And I’m proud to carry that forward.
