It’s taken a long time to write this, and I’ve decided nothing will ever be right or explain how I feel or how much Ras meant to me and so many others. So fuck it, here it is.
Ras, you were an absolute force of nature. Your ability to turn a shit day in to a brilliant day was exceptionally rare. Your approach to climbing was unparalleled, your passion and dedication combined with the incredible joy you had for it was a wonder to behold. It’s something I aspire to take forward not just in my climbing, but in life.
You were a ray of sunshine and brightened every single day. I will miss you dearly, and London, nor climbing, will ever feel the same without you.
The outpouring of love from your friends, the Bethsquad and the wider climbing community has been nothing short of amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it. I hope, wherever you are now, that you know just how loved you are and how many lives you touched.
Mental Health is a savage beast, and nobody is safe from it. Please reach out, please seek help if you are struggling. This is going to take a long time to process, but please, anybody reading this (if you’ve made it this far) feel free to talk to me if you’re struggling. My inbox is always open.
A final message to @thebethsquad You are the most beautiful group of friends I could ever hope for. I couldn’t have got through this without you all. I love you all.
