I turn 30 at 10:13 Pacific time today. Today I'm honoring all I've done in the last decade, and inspiring the kids to maximize their 20s. I spent 13 years in the fashion industry as an international model. I got my bachelor's of science in Spaceflight Operations with concentrations in aerospace physiology and human factors engineering. I worked at an extreme travel agency, I worked at multiple warehouses, gas stations. I worked at a fancy restaurant in SoHo. I put on the world's first civilian HAHO jump during a total solar eclipse. I saw the second eclipse after that too. I delivered groceries, I was a hedge fund guy's PA. I flipped jewelry during COVID & you all thought I was a conspiracy theorist for telling you to buy gold and silver. Don't you hate when I'm right? I spent a long time forcing my way into an industry I have no place in. I don't do that anymore. I've been realizing how much I was able to accomplish with brute force. I competed in the Olympics of hot people for over a decade. I waited for solar maximum for years. Cloudy nights, travel all kept me from what might be once in a lifetime opportunity (it's a 12 year cycle but this maximum is especially active). Space is just a hobby for me now, but I still cling to it because I remember the sense of wonder it used to make me feel. I think about all of the times I was excluded from opportunities as a kid because I was low income. Middle child of 3 with a single mom in rural Nevada. Dark skies were always free. I had the highest grades in my class in elementary school but they wouldn't let me test for the gifted & talented program because my "home life wasn't stable enough." The school found out my criminal uncle was out of San Quentin and on the run. Silly little me thinking I could rise above my circumstances. Now I do land stewardship, I'm engaged to the biggest mustache in America, my high school class is too intimidated to invite me to the reunion, & someone said I'm more interesting than the Dos Equis man the other day. TLDR: Read "The Myth of Sisyphus" by Camus You die in your comfort zone Stop resisting the dawn of the age of Aquarius ♒

Archive : May 2022 Outtakes of Milan to Flims by 🚗 [The better pics are on a post further down] I booked a job for Bally, the set was a picturesque little alpine lake in the Swiss Alps. They had someone pick me and the other model up and drive us from Milan. I'll always remember this drive not only because it was beautiful, but because I actually grasped the "free movement" concept for the first time. I kept trying to give my passport to the guard at the Italian/Swiss border and he kept waving me away, confused. I was being frugal so my Italian SIM card cut out as soon as we hit the Swiss border. Only thing to do was look out the window. This wasn't my first time in Switzerland, but it was definitely my favorite. This place was much more charming than Zurich (not that there's anything wrong with Zurich). There was a lot of stress back and forth about the usage of the images for the shoot, but they put us up in a really nice hotel. Something I miss about working for clients out of Italy is getting dinner covered when you have to travel for work. US clients don't do this and you just have to save your receipts and try to get it back on your taxes. But it was always nice to know that if I had to stay in a hotel the night before working then I would at least have a good meal. I remember barely being able to stay awake at the table with all of the crew. By the time we fittings and nails were done we weren't getting served dinner until after 9pm and we had an early call time the next morning. They held us hostage at the dinner until almost 11 by withholding the actual call time information until the veeeeeeery end. Classic. As a model, you end up sitting through a lot of crew meals in silence because you're usually the only one(s) imported from another country. A couple of years ago, I read the Myth of Sisyphus by Camus. I think that's what tipped me off about being an NPC.

Archive : 2022 MFW AW '22 It was exceptionally freezing this year. This was the only day the sun came out and I could briefly take off my jacket. Thankfully, it was the same day they were on a public transit strike because I had to walk/bike to all of my castings anyways. My belt still had the metal tip. My boots look nothing like this anymore. I think this was the season I got cancelled from a show because the stylist had me wearing shoes 2 sizes too big (wow. Crazy. Stylists never do that to you during fashion week. Really makes you wonder what the point of the fittings are...), so I waited in line to walk and put the shoes on at the last second so my feet wouldn't be sweaty and cause my gigantic pumps to go flying off in front of the entire fashion industry. I don't think he got really mad until the other girls in line saw what I was doing and started doing it too. Because, you guessed it, their shoes were also the wrong size.
