On May 13, 2026, as a first in the club's eventful history, Tresor Berlin invites an independent platform from China to curate and host the program for an entire night. The Plain District investigates the breadth of contemporary electronic music culture and transforms unconventional, high-concept locations. Annual events in cities across China unfold a synthesis of the arts, Technology, and music — carried by a free spirit. We embarked on a unique journey of nomadic events, curated site-specific cross-media installations unfolding in a diverse range of striking venues, from historic tunnels and abandoned factories to vanguard architectural sites, concert halls, and clubs — Highlighting forward-thinking Chinese artists and featuring international guests, in lineups of uncompromised artistic expression. Plain District 2025 SHIFT — Beijing Remodel, Reinvent, Reappear The Plain District is a nonprofit platform investigating contemporary electronic music culture. Annual events in cities across China, held in abandoned factories, avant-garde architectural spaces, historic sites, music venues, and renowned concert halls, unfold a synthesis of the arts, technology, and music. Supported by the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Beijing, and the German consulates in Chengdu and Guangzhou, the Plain District has been fostering creative dialogue and sustainable cultural exchange between electronic music protagonists and communities in China and internationally. Since its 2021 inauguration in the historic tunnels of Qingdao, the Plain District has been transforming spaces into momentary realms of artistic expression and multi-sensory perception. In its 5th year, the Plain District stays true to its core: to unfold an open space of free spirit. And — What if the most radical approach for the Plain District were to further insist on the creative protagonists, the shapeshifters, the artists — their ideas, their music, and their performances? — For a matrix of visions and experiences.

Recap Xi'an —— Plain District 2024 Flux Fiction — Xi'an Circles of Interrelation Unpredictable, unstable, untested formations in sound and space For the three Plain District events in 2024, the main theme of Flux Fiction was expanded by a distinct curatorial approach for each city and lineup. "Ventures of Making" for Dali, "Circles of Interrelation" for Xi'an, and "Fields of Introspection" for Guangzhou. "Circles of Interrelation" contained two oscillating program sections. The first curatorial section highlighted the distinct avant-garde of contemporary Chinese electronic music; the second section showcased the influence of German electronic music culture from "Cosmic Rock" (internationally known as "Krautrock") to Techno.
