Hemming Workshop with Radical Sewists! Saturday, May 9th Noon - 4PM PLACE LB 2172 Pacific Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90806 $15 Sign up Here at https://linktr.ee/lbcma or link in bio. Tired of pants that drag or bunch at the ankle? Join us for a hands-on workshop focused on the basics of hemming your garments. In this 4-hour session, participants will learn how to properly measure, pin, and sew hems using provided sewing machines. Along the way, we’ll also cover simple tailoring tips and how to choose the right pant length for a polished look. Bring a pair of pants that need hemming, and we’ll guide you step-by-step through the process. Please try to bring a woven fabric and not a stretchy knit fabric. This workshop is designed for beginners with at least a little sewing machine experience. Students will work in pairs, with a maximum of 8 participants to ensure plenty of guidance and support. Leave with a pair of pants that fit just right and the skills to do it again! Skill level: Beginner (some sewing machine experience NEEDED)

Free Mending Workshop with Radical Sewists! Saturday, April 11th Noon - 3PM PLACE LB 2172 Pacific Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90806 Free! Donations Accepted! Sign up link in bio Join us for a fun and free mending workshop led by Radical Sewists! Is your favorite piece of clothing falling apart? Did you buy an amazing vintage piece that has a hole? This mending workshop will revitalize your clothing into functional art. Bring one or two pieces and we’ll teach you some beautiful ways to repair them! All supplies are included and you’ll receive some mending supplies and information zine to take home. This special no-cost mending workshop is being offered in partnership with the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program and the City of Long Beach Office of Climate Action and Sustainability to provide a free community space to learn about sustainable fashion through mending. Let’s move away from fast fashion, learn a useful skill, and create community! Techniques we will cover: Borro stitching Patching Hem repair Busted seam Please bring: One or two pieces of clothing. Optional: A fabric you love and want to use for your repairs.

Free Quilting Workshop! Saturday, April 25th Noon - 3PM PLACE LB 2172 Pacific Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90806 Free! Donations Accepted! Sign up link in bio Learn the basics of quilting by making a tiny, coaster-sized quilt, also known as a “mug rug.” These tiny quilts have the same components as a full-size quilt, just on a smaller scale, so they’re an approachable first project for anyone curious about quilting. Our quilts will be 5”x5”. You’ll learn how to assemble a “quilt sandwich” and stitch through a quilt to keep it all together. For this project, we’ll use a method that doesn’t require you to bind the edges of the quilt with bias tape, making it a little faster and easier than traditional quilts. We’ll be sewing with a machine and by hand in this workshop.
