The work will still be up for viewing in person on the second floor of Tech-Ed 1 but all biding will be done via a website specifically for this fundraiser.

As we celebrate Filipino-American Heritage Month, we’d like to circle back to Pixie Iwata’s solo exhibition titled, “Not Your Model Minority”.
The work talks about, “Anti-Asian racism within America” Iwata explains. The work shows how Asians and Asian-Americans have been stereotyped, mistreated, and judged for hundreds of years. This work is very personal to Pixie Iwata, not only because she herself is Filipino-American, but also because she included her family and friends in the artworks she had up in the gallery. Pixie, along with the help of friends, painted the entire gallery space including intricate designs to help bring her vision to life. Pixie used various photographic processes, some which required her to be even more hands on such as Cyanotypes and Lumen Prints; adding a whole other layer of importance and personal touch to the work.
We are very proud of Pixie and so fortunate to have had her beautiful work up in our student gallery space.
