The Love Robots are built on notions of love, not ‘intelligence’, automation, or practicality. They don’t care about humans, only about each other. They try to find each other. Sometimes they succeed, often they don’t. They are fragile, vulnerable. They spin around. They fail, they try again.

Enlightenment in the age of #AI: The reverse Turing Test, and the bubble that’s not financial but mental and cultural. This is among the issues we discussed in the AI Reading Group run by @pixelpeppy and me on January 30th, 2026. We used Kant’s “What is Enlightenment?” as a prompt for discussion, and some other recent texts shed light on conversations around “Artificial General Intelligence” #AGI and the proposed AI #Singularity. That is the focus of this article, along with the broader question of whether humanity might be entering a new Age of Enlightenment, or rather a New Dark Age. Our aim is not to create machine learning models capable of emotion. Instead, our intention is to introduce an expanded affective sensibility that can participate in a more nuanced and multidimensional representation of human experience.

Because design now continuously evolves, data acts as mediator, framework and interface.

Untitled II, 2025 Part of the series Jumping into the Affective Abyss/Genealogy/Autofiction Bringing affect and intensity, complexity, indecipherability, other species, and the “dance of agency” as coordinates of a kinky grid that informs / disturbs algorithmic logics. Open for business: building custom AI models 🤖 custom robots! After incubating for a while we are happy to officially launch our new research lab. Amidst the #AI bubble & hype, we are putting ideas first, embracing complexity, engaging in sensory design. We are already working on some exciting projects - stay tuned for announcements, job opportunities, project updates. philosophymachines.com

I recently published 'The Oracle of Delphi' at ArteActa, the Journal for Performing Arts and Artistic Research, where I develop what I call an 'affective promptology' as I explore ways to 'kink' the algorithm and introduce nuance, depth and texture to algorithmic systems. This is part of an ongoing body of work where I adopt a critical stance towards algorithmic systems, while at the same time try to escape the inevitabilism that often surrounds our relationship with technology and advocate for hope. Would love any feedback and reactions! See essay here & on bio: /view/3019036/3019037
