A few weeks ago in Kensington, Philadelphia, I had the privilege of photographing and installing an exhibition for a brand new indoor soccer field—a space that now lives at the heart of a larger safety corridor being built in partnership with @safehub_philly , @love.futbol , @pincusfamilyfoundation and @ctcten_safehub
This wasn’t just a shoot. It was a chance to show up for a neighborhood that rarely gets the spotlight. We spent the day capturing portraits of kids and community members who are usually overlooked—and put them front and center. Not as a statement, not as art for art’s sake—but to remind them (and anyone who walks into that space) that they matter.
We printed these action shot’s and pasted them across the walls of the new indoor soccer facility at Safe-Hub Kensington. Some of these kids have never seen themselves like this—on a wall, in focus, represented in a way usually reserved for someone else. That alone is powerful.
I’m grateful to have been asked to take this on and work with @weigsworld and @pixel.custom.made who made sure we meet our deadlines. Special thanks to @hewitty
The honor is in the service—offering these kids the chance to be seen, to feel seen, and maybe be inspired to chase something for themselves. Whether that’s sport, art, or something else entirely. That’s what it’s about.
