A Glimpse Behind the Camera 🎬
On April 1st, VFMK hosted the festive launch of At Large – Behind the Camera with Brian Large at the Vienna State Opera.
Barbara Rett led through an afternoon full of memories, music legends, and moving video excerpts.
Among the guests: Marie Lou Falcone, co-author Jane Scovell, Reiner E. Moritz (IMZ), Karin Veitl (ORF), and filmmaker Jakob Pitzer.
Brian Large shared insights into decades behind the camera with Pavarotti, Bernstein, Kleiber & co – and received a standing ovation.
The afternoon was marked by impressive video excerpts
illustrating key milestones of Large’s work. The audience
experienced moving moments, including footage featuring
Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, Mirella Freni, Leonard
Bernstein, Carlos Kleiber, and many other musical legends.
Particularly striking were the exclusive interviews with Large himself, shot by Jakob Pitzer, in which he reflected on his unique visual language as well as his collaborations with artists such as Igor Stravinsky, Birgit Nilsson, and Cecilia Bartoli.
