This match felt different. One week after officially making USPSA A Class with a Master-level classifier run, I showed up to Rocket City Practical Shooters at Cavern Cove with a completely different level of calm and confidence. No pressure.
No overthinking.
No forcing performance. Just controlled execution and trust in the process. I finished:
🏆 3rd in Limited Optics
🔥 74.25% behind the Grand Master who won the entire match …but the placement honestly isn’t what made this match special to me. This felt like a new foundation. A foundation built on: • mental freedom • positive neutral mindset • trusting my vision • and simply allowing my skills to work That may be the biggest breakthrough yet on the road to Master Class. #USPSA

First match after making A Class… and honestly, it felt different in the best way possible. After reaching what felt like my first major goal in USPSA, I showed up to this match with: • zero pressure • zero doubt • zero overanalyzing • zero negativity Just freedom. Freedom to move, trust what I see, and let my training work the way it’s supposed to work. For me, that’s what growth in this sport is really starting to look like. Not forcing performance… but allowing it to happen. What’s interesting is that this mindset also creates a much higher level of awareness after the match. Instead of emotionally reacting to mistakes, I can evaluate performance clearly and identify exactly what needs work in training. Now that I know what this level of mental freedom feels like, my goal on the road to Master Class is simple:
-Maintain the same attitude. -High focus. Low pressure. So how do I do that? Mental management. Whenever nerves or expectations start ramping up, I remind myself:
“You’re not getting paid to do this. This is your hobby. You’re out here shooting with friends. You’ve already won.” Then I give myself ONE thing to focus on for the stage… and that’s it. Pressure disappears.
Performance engages.
And placements naturally rise. #uspsa #lokgrips

A CLASS. OFFICIALLY. I still can’t fully put this moment into words. On CM 25-07 Absolute Cinema, I put together a Master-level run: 🔥 13 Alphas 🔥 1 Charlie 🔥 7.19 seconds …and officially earned my @theuspsa A Class classification. This has been the result of months of intentional work: • Learning how to stay positive neutral • Trusting my vision • Improving transitions • Accepting what I see • And learning how to perform instead of just trying harder The emotion in this recap was REAL. I definitely let a few explicit words fly out of pure adrenaline and excitement 😂 apologies for the language, but this moment meant a lot to me. Huge thank you to: @lee.henderson5 @mikehwang @andersonshooting Your knowledge, coaching, and influence have directly impacted my growth in this sport. This is a huge milestone for me… but I know this is only the beginning. Master Class is the next mission. #USPSA #AClass #LimitedOptics #PracticalShooting #PittFactor

Almost 80% of @acobb55 (GM PCC) with a 1.01 draw. This is something to be proud of 🤙🏼

This was my last stage at The GOAT 2.0. For me, I finished very strong, and as you will see also very tired. I dominated a close head box that I could not see my dot or any holes on the target because it was very bright, so I gave it a high five alpha headshot hit box love 😂🤙🏼 I 💛 @pcs_league and can not wait for this next year.

Welcome to another episode of “Matt‘s Always Training”. In this episode, we have a guest appearance of, none other than, my dad 🙌🏼 I hope these videos help you folks in some way shape or form. They definitely help me evaluate my struggles and I believe have been very helpful in my progression. One thing that I have definitely overlooked, that my brilliant wife has brought to my attention is… “You are a fast learner, but you can’t forget about the element of time.” - @_emily.pittman_ I have moments of excellence, but my consistency is far from intact. Being reminded that time is my greatest enemy to consistency is relieving. I put quite a bit of pressure on myself and I’ve set the gauntlet of hitting master this year. I believe I can do that. Not because I’m special, but because I am dedicated to achieving that goal. Thank you for following along and all the encouragement you’ve given me over this last 4 1/2 months. I look forward to seeing y’all out there 🤙🏼

Ever since I’ve gotten the CZ S2 with DA trigger, it has forced my trigger prep significantly on the draw. This has increased my awareness of the importance of trigger prep which is leading to a faster first shot. I won this stage for a few different reasons, but one of the biggest contributing factors was my 1.18 draw. I’m starting to become more confident in my draw and trigger prep as I bring gun up to target and the results are starting to reflect that as well. Let the fight continue!! #cz #uspsa

I’m proud that The GOAT 2.0 was my first major. @pcs_league is absolutely incredible. I have so much to process from this match and can’t thank @maxamundi , @elementtrainingcomplex and the entire crew that brought this together, enough, for letting us goons do what we love. BIG shout out to @north_alabama_pcsl for prepping us new guys for an incredible time. THANK YOU @brandonpylate and @raw_blondbeard 🙌🏼
