A little warm-up before busy season kicks in 🔥 Attended the UNSTAGED workshop hosted by @tildeathwedoartsociety / @shelbylaine last month to get the creative juices flowing! I got the chance to observe how Shelby approaches her sessions. It’s always refreshing to see how someone else works and to take those ideas back to my upcoming sessions! Every time I go on vacation, I always debate whether to bring my camera or not. Do I want to be working while on vacation? Do I want to take time to edit the photos with the editing queue already piling up from this upcoming season? But then I remember that I don’t get to see my parents or my siblings every day since I moved to Kansas City. So I decided to bring my camera. Throughout the week, I’d hang onto my camera and just take some snaps around our beachfront home, not prompting or posing anyone, just documenting everything as is. My mother showing off her hair-braiding skills on my sister and holding it up like a prize fish My younger brother, dad, & mom having a conversation on the balcony, probably discussing how insane their sisters/daughters are. The children hanging out with Mother (me behind the camera, obviously) My mother & sister spotting dolphins from our beachfront house My parents sharing a sweet moment before coming back inside to get ready for dinner My father watching my husband paddleboard in the middle of the ocean under some umbrellas, and my husband emerging from the ocean. And of course, in professional photographer fashion, I instructed the family to get dressed for some quick portraits on our last day at the beach. These are the moments I’ll cherish forever and show to my kids someday. Please enjoy the video of my parents two-stepping at midnight after all of their kids BEGGED them to show off their skills.

I’ve always wondered WHY people decide to book with me. Was it because of my photography style? My price point? The overall vibes? While photography style & price point were factors for some couples, there was one thing that most couples said it was the reason they booked me: My personality. “Well yeah Piper that makes sense…” No you don’t understand… Almost all couples mentioned that they loved my outgoing personality and that was the ultimate reason they booked me as their wedding photographer. I make it a huge priority to show my face online, share my beliefs & show off my weird quirky self to the internet. Because people want to see the person behind the business. They want to see who exactly is going to be there on their wedding day documenting one of the most important events of their lives.
