OK, here is the final post-event #aiaenpleinair #observationdrawing to my #cherryblossom mini-series!🥳😎 God I saw this tree at Columbus Park during the AIA in-person meet up but I had to leave before I can draw it. I made it a point to go back that Tuesday before the annual capstone chaos hits 10000% And good thing I did, otherwise I would’ve missed the remaining 🌸blooms.

After the #aiaenpleinair event, I wanted to build out a mini #cherryblossom 🌸series. I did 3 more location studies but just never posted them due to the usual showcase chaos and other irl situations. In the next few days, I will be sharing them. Today is 1 of 3, I did an impromptu turn into @branchbrookpark parking lot and sketched away.😊

4/13. Title: “She Had To Leave” — In just 10-minutes someone sat nearby and start making unsolicited comments. What should’ve been a quiet, creative moment turned into discomfort and distraction. This is the stage of my #observationaldrawing when I packed up and left.
We talk a lot about showing up, being visible, and taking in the space. But the reality is not everyone gets to do that safely. We deserve spaces where we can exist, create,and focus without being watched, interrupted, or harassed.
A woman’s safety zone is the basic right to feel at ease in public spaces. No one should have to leave under these circumstances.
