When @leon__bester who I’ve known for many years through skating asked if I’d be keen to join him on a little bikepacking mission through the Klein Karoo, the answer was easy 🌵 So we set off on a chilled three day ride from Barrydale to De Rust, following a route he found on @bikepackingcom šŸ—ŗļø The first stretch took us along some spectacular farm roads to Van Wyksdorp, over the Rooiberg Pass, and down into Calitzdorp for the night. Next morning we rolled into the lush Groenfontein Valley, stopped for a solid lunch at the base of Swartberg Pass, and climbed it just in time for sunset. Dropped down in the dusk and landed in Prince Albert. If I had to compare Rooiberg and Swartberg Pass, I’d definitely say Swartberg was the easier of the two. It might be nearly twice the size, but its smooth surface and nice flow make it more of a gentleman’s climb… unlike Rooiberg, which is rough, constantly shifting angles, and keeps you on your toes. Not gonna say it wasn’t fun though! Our final leg started with a big breakfast and a lekker chat with legend @treloar_herald next to a fire at @lazylizard_za and then we cruised towards Klaarstroom with a gracious tailwind. We took a rad detour through the Middelwater area and popped out in Meiringspoort for a quick swim at the waterfall before wrapping it all up in De Rust šŸ If we had more time, we would’ve loved to push on to Knysna and loop back through the Baviaanskloof to end in Jefferys Bay. Maybe later this year šŸ‘€ Thanks again for the quality ride @leon__bester 🤠

On a recent trip to Lesotho we had the privilege of spending some time with @patrick_rorke a local artist and incredible human being. Patrick’s dream is unfolding as he builds an artist residency in the enchanting village of Morija, where he was born. The residency will host both local and international artists, with a special focus on potters who’ll be working with the abundant local clay and sharing their creativity with the youth in local schools. ā€œThis is my main drive,ā€ he explains. ā€œThere’s an awful amount of work to be done here to produce creative thinkers who can come up with real solutions for Lesotho.ā€ Check the link in my bio for the short film I shot and edited alongside @annaletsteenkamp that captures the spirit of Patrick’s mission. Special thanks to @soundpatch for their amazing final audio mix! Applications for the Maloaleng Artists Residence will open in October 2025.

I accompanied @annaletsteenkamp in shooting this very sensitive story earlier this year. A film about Carol de Swardt’s journey to Switzerland to end her life with dignity. Carol’s brave yet gentle heart has forever changed me and I hope her story will have the same impact on others. Dankie Annalet for taking me along on this project, you truly direct with an open heart and tell stories with such integrity. You’re not only a dear friend but a great mentor! Head over to @netwerk_24 to watch the full documentary as part of their new Blitsdokkie series. Director : @annaletsteenkamp Executive Producer : @izelleventer DOP & Editor : me Final Mix : @soundpatch Thanks to everyone else involved ā¤ļø

’Context in Design, Design in Context’ Featured on @nowness Go check it out if you haven’t yet 🌓 I truly loved the simplicity of making this short doccie for @nmbello1 I was briefed to capture the same design being manufactured by traditional artisans in two different cities - Lagos and Sharjah both very different in climate and culture but also surprisingly similar in many ways. Thank you so much for trusting me with your vision Nifemi! Thank you to the beautiful people who shared their spaces with me and to @sharjaharchitecture @nmbello_studio @wflsncrm for making it happen.
